I wasn't saying Noble is a great tactician, but are you seriously blaming him for the make up of the competition?
All he and the players are doing is taking advantage of it,
Of course we want to finish top of the league ,but ,at the moment we are not consitant enough.
It's there for all S L teams to do,just finish in the top 6 ,and you've got a chance.
And I still say that should we win the G F, there will still be one or two having a moan about something.
And IF we were to get beat by Leeds tomorrow the two victories would become a distant memory and people would start to remember the mediocre season we've actually had.

Of course I'm not. What I am saying is the nature of the competition makes it easy for some to brush the dross of the last 27 under the carpet. All he has to do in some peoples eyes is coach the team to four victories (which equals GF victory)and they will forgive him the rest of the season.
I'll take a GF victory as much as any Wigan fan but I travel a fair distance to watch Wigan and make quite a few arrangements regarding work so I can take son and my Dad. I think I deserve to see a lot more than I did this season in the regular rounds regardless of if we win the GF or not.
And I still say that should we win the G F, there will still be one or two having a moan about something.
To me the playoffs and the league are two separate competitions. I expect the team to do well in both and so even if we do win the GF that does not excuse him or the team from the way they played in the 27 league rounds. As I said before it was not a plan to play as badly as we did in quite a few games.
If we do progress and win it I will be delighted but at the same time I could not really argue with anyone if they said we pinched it given the general form of the team over the season. I think that is just being realistic about the team, the coach and about nature of the competition with the playoffs being a knock-out meaning anything can happen.

Spot on Dave, as I've said before i think more people will start to remember just how bad the season has been if we lose at Leeds. Remember 7 wins out of the first 10 games, 6 out of next 17. Not good enough.

I agree with a lot that you say,but the competition is what it is.
I also want to see better rugby every week of the season, but when the competition dictates that this is what can happen,ie,not even winning half your league games, and still having a chance to win the big prize, what are you going to do?
Look at football, the second biggest cup competition in the world, the "Champions League".How many actual champions have won it in the recent past?....Not many.
Liverpool have been in the final twice, won it once,in the past three or four years, and they haven't been champions of England for nearly 20 years.
I think we agree on a lot,but put our emphasis on different things.
Here's hoping for the right result tonight.
