Re: Catalans away

im sounding like "we have the most fans moan moan moan" but from a financial view, the RFL (like in the past) could have switched it to another date as weekend bank holiday easter plane tickets arent cheap and we definately wont mirror last summer with attendances will we?

perhaps the RFL are going legitimate?

The only way i'd go is a nice drive down which could work out cheaper.

Posted this on another thread.

The Clubs line that the movement of the home match against Celtic Crusaders from Friday 17th to the Sunday 19th April is to allow extra recovery time after the Easter Monday trip to Catalan is rubbish. The real reason is that latics are at home to Man Utd on the 18th.

The club should stop kow-towing to the old git. How much notice does Whelan need to organise the groundstaff? He's got plenty this time but he won't do it as he doesn't want to risk the wrath of Sir Alex if Utsd lose. To be honest the latics could do with the pitch being chewed up a bit as it might even up the odds against Utd and Arsenal!

It's easier said than done though Doc. I hate him too.

However, on the plus side, it does help re recovery and its gives Celtic fans a better opportunity to attend. I just think the club should be open and say it also suits Whelan / Wigan A.

I do think the fixtures are better though.

I know the extra recovery time is useful, but like you say, I just wish the club would be honest and say that they have had to move the Wakefield, Saints and Celtic matches due to Whelan being an unco-operative pain in the arse!

well last year over the easter campaign there was a match on tuesday so the extra preparation excuse doesnt work but latics dont play on that groung for over a week. so why has Whelhan done this the old git. when Latics go down and cant get 10,000 then who will he want to pack the stadium, us so he needs to start doing the right thing and not cut off his nose to spite his face

Should the Latics have a good FA Cup run and draw Man Utd at the JJB in the latter rounds, the tie to be played on the Saturday after a pre arranged Friday night RL match, what do you think Whelan will do?

Latics website says they are home to Arsenal Sat 11th April (Easter Saturday)and home to Man. Utd on Sat 18th April.

Does beg the question whether anyone at the RFL bothered checking the Latics fixture list before coming up with this years fisxtures, especially after the problems with the playoffs last year.
