As advised, for the sake of what may or may not have cost the club a sponsorship deal,
I think that is the most ludicrous thing about this whole episode.

The notion a mock up shirt picture with the sponsors name on it would cost the club the deal is ridiculous IMO.

Far more likely they didn't want their thunder stolen about the announcement. It is their own fault for running an operation that can't keep anything confidential stuff like this gets posted. Numerous people already knew the sponsor anyway and it would be obvious to the sponsor that was the case.
is deleting a couple of threads really that much to get worked up about. Lots of people do seem to know who it is (allegedly) and I do not know what in the threads may or may not have jeapordised the deal.
None IMO. Sponsors enter into sponsorship agreements for publicity.
Why is everone getting worked up?
As already advised, mike was not on line, but he is OK with what I did and why.
Simply because the club have censored the content of this (and rlfans) message board. If you can't see the implications of that...

Dave
Exactly Dave....... What next, a demand from the club to remove CPWigan's anti-noble comments simply for the fact that they may cause disruption behind the scenes!! Or even upset him :o

If this goes to the next step, then any criticism of the team/performance etc could be deemed "unsettling to the team" and pressure applied by someone within the club to have it removed.

What exactly is "in place" to stop the club continuing to apply pressure in the future on "certain people" in order for a supposed "independent web site" from toeing the club line?

What is to stop it happening again? Mike :)

Basically this had never happened before so it was new. Mike then gave his view as I like many mods PMed him just to clarify how he felt. Mike made it clear the purpose of this web site is not to retain secrets on the club's behalf.

Had I had even more opportunity to speak at the forum last night I would have raised the issue that the club needs to publicise news more readily and thus limit rumour / speculation.

Spot on, at the MAIN issue is about free speach and not about member of being duped or hoodwinked bye SOMEONE from the CLUB. Its an attack on our right to post what we want no matter how contentious it may be.

Mike and the Moderators Police the site very well and i dont see any reason for that to change.

To me it smacks of Big Brother tactics from the club.

Did no one bring this issue up last night as it would have been a perfect opportunity to show IL that such action from the club will not be tolerated from the fans on this site.

Send him an email if you feel that strongly about it, Mick will get back to you.

If you care to look back one page to CBinders posting you will read that it was NOT Mick Hogan who called him to ask for the removal of the Thread, therefor your posting about e-mailing him is a bit strange as CBinder does not name the person responsible for getting peoples backs up.

I have said and will say it again i PUT no Blame at the Feet of either AtoB or CBinder as i feel they were both conned. Also if members on here cant see this as an attack on free speach well it beggers belief IMO

It is not something completely new.
Its a few years since I worked for the club but back then little Mo would constantly have a go at me about this site.
As far as he was concerned I being "Big Mike" was obviously the person behind this site.

Like i used to say to him... Surely if it was me would I not do the site under a different name? The fact that at the time I did not have a computer and had never been on the internet did not put him off nor did the fact that I could prove to him that some of the things he moaned about I knew were wrong anyway i.e team speculation.

I can't honestly see why they wanted it deleted but the real issue is what will be the next thing they want deleted?
Where will it stop?

:eh:

I do think it is an attack on free speech on the face of it bud I wasn't having a go it was merely a suggestion. Given that Mick was involved with the same thing on RLFans and although a 'club employee' made the request I think it is likely that the reasoning behind it probably came from higher up. The fact is that if you ask Mick you will get an explanation which may reduce your level of frustration. I wasn't criticising your post though mate.

I agree 100%. I feel they were not so much conned as put under unacceptable pressure from the club to act. I can't ever recall this happening before.

Thanks DaveO was so angry and frustrated that i had a hard time trying to work it as i would have liked to & words failed me for once. Some people think this is a small issue but IMO it isnt and we have to safeguard our right to post our view without the club comming across like some Big Brother Organization trying to tell us what view we can pu on here.
