Re: Ellery Hanley = New Coach

He would need to come with full control over team matters with no interferance from the board and would have to be backed to make the tough decisions that are blatantly obvious. From what Ive been told by people that he has coached he is a decent coach, plays the game that we deserve to watch and is inspirational as a motivator. This team requires motivation, ok there are problems with some players but nothing that cant be changed with the right men in charge.

This team has potential but Nobby has lost the respect of the players and it appears that they dont want to play for him badly enough which is sad.
I agree we could do a lot worse.

Hanley was very well respected at stains but did have some issues managing the more challenging egos within the team at the time. Chris Joynt had masses of respect for him.

I personally think we could do a lot worse than bring in Shaun McRae. He knows the British game as well as any British coach, is tactically astute, and has a good record of blooding new talent that's available to him.

Shaun Wane would benefit from a period under him as he (hopefully) develops further into the excellent coach he's shown himself to be so far.

Just a thought
Ill go with this guy, Shaun McRae for me.

I'm not sure he is really the best option,he dids alright with stains but I can't really remeber him winning too much since
Agreed, he's not exactly set the world on fire in terms of trophys - but then at Souths and then Salford, that was never going to happen. Truth is, he did very well with little to work with at Salford.

The point for me would be that I think he could restore some teamwork to the side, and to the club. He could get us doing the basics right again, which is something we just aren't doing, and he would at least bring something to the table other than the flat and narrow unimaginative rubbish that Noble peddles.

I'm not saying that the glory days would be back within a season, and he may well not come, but it would be a step in the right direction as far as I am concerned, and the start of a repairing the damage that is currently being done

I personally believe the only person to help us is a wigan lad. someone who wore the shirt with pride and would have a go at anybody who didnt. it doesnt have to be Hanley though any wigan lad would do really. whithin reason of course

No chance of this, Mr Tight wad Lenagan won't want to pay Salford compo and big Shaun has at least three years to go on his contract.
