I hadn't looked at it from that angle. Sam's prowess in a position that was new to him did Phelps no favours at all. I suppose he would now rank as 4th choice and I can't see him breaking into the threequarter line either.
To be fair to Phelps KW, I thought he showed enough promise as a 6 to be good enough in that position for Wakefield or Championship clubs. Bit greedy but good kicking and threatened the line.
Couple of days ago, he tweeted that he wasn't relishing the 20 hour flight home. Went on to say it could be worse, could be a 20 hour flight to the UK!
I replied to him saying no-one forced him to come here in the first place!

I saw that as well KW
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

When we were struggling for a full-back a couple of seasons ago then Cameron Phelps wasnt too bad a proposition, but as you say with Amos, Sam and Pat all more capable at 1, it paves the way out of the door for Phelps.
They wouldn't get half a dozen games between them if they stay so whats the point. Cam could do a good job somewhere else but you get the impression it was only ever going to be Wigan in this country.
Pryce is a lost cause - end of story.[/list]
I would offer both new reduced one year contracts which suit their position in the squad and let them decide. Neither player is vital to the squad but there is no problem with having them in the squad.
I would imagine Phelps would return home to find a place in an NRL club as for Pryce he could either try and prove himself at Wigan or move on to a new lower club.
I think the problem is that as Dave O says you only have 55K to spend outside the cap and the top earners. IL stated we are close to the cap limit but could free cap room up with loans but surely that defeats the argument. Pryce was to the best of my knowledge on 60K. Phelps would not be on brass buttons.
The biggest argument for me is that if we look at our squad we have great depth short and long term in the forwards BUT in the outside backs our depth long term is the next issue we will have to tackle. So we need to develop some young outside backs and that means giving Charnley, Marsh, King, Russell opportunities as and when they are needed. Phelps and Pryce would be short term and hinder our desire to be the best team in SL over the next how many years.
Pryce has been dire and the sooner he goes the better.I think Phelps was playing well when he got injured but i doubt if he would get many games so he probably should be let go as well.
