No, you cannot blame them doing it for themselves, but urging others to do it like Farrell is doing will not go down well with many of our supporters.slimshady wrote:You lot are unbelievable, they are doing their jobs for christ sake. Couldnt agree more WW, I've Been harping on about union for a long time know about what they are prepared to do to Rugby League and it gets my back up so much. As such I detest anything to do with the game of Rugby Union, a game I see as sub standard to rugby league. Yes they call it a different game, well if thats the case why do they attempt to put RL down so much. I know the answer to that question as they also know that league is a far better spectacle with stronger, fitter athletes wbo dont resort to always kicking a ball when they catch it. I remember a newspaper article some years ago and it mentioned "the ball to hand time" in league compared to union. In union it was 17 minutes out kf the 80 and in league it averaged at 67 minutes. No comparison.
Its about time league stuck up for its own game by putting people in the right jobs to promote the game instead of allowing it to be dissed by union biased faggots.
As you say WW ban farrel from ever showing bis head through a rugby league club office if he is determined to pull league talent away.
obviously I would prefer they didnt play union, its shite and you shouldnt play unless your over 30 its a waste of talent.
As Laurie Daley said, "Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people, Rugby Union is a complex game played by w##kers."

Re: Sam Burgess to Union
I feel very passionate about Rugby League slim, I was brought up with it as a child playing at a young age until I was 34, not at any high level, but enough to feel the way I do about the sport. I fully agree with you regarding players short careers and their ability to make some coin out of it. My gripe isn't about that, its about those players we once saw as legends, out and out league at heart now turning their backs on the sport that started them on the career path they are on today.slimshady wrote:You lot are unbelievable, they are doing their jobs for christ sake. Maybe its just me, but I just cant stand seeing union, a second rate sport to League, doing its best to destroy rugby league in any way it can.
Are we just to let our best talent go without saying what we feel.
it must just be me slim and I am sorry if I have offended you.
Re: Sam Burgess to Union
You didnt offend me mate and I'm sorry too after re-reading my post I think I gave the impression I was having a go. I played RL till I was 38 and then went to the darkside for a lie down. We shouldnt just let the talent go but we dont have much choice as the money in union is a lot better at the top level.Panchitta Marra wrote:I feel very passionate about Rugby League slim, I was brought up with it as a child playing at a young age until I was 34, not at any high level, but enough to feel the way I do about the sport. There are a lot of tossers involved in union who will do what they can to destroy RL much like the vichy did in France in the second world war, who with the help of the nazi's did what they could to destroy RL in France by banning the game and stealing their funds.
I just dont think we need to have a pop at former players when the people who run our game have failed for as long as I can remember to promote RL to a high level. Even after the world cup we should be on the crest of a wave but no we are still struggling to attract decent money into the game.
We need a radical change at the top of our game and hopefully people like IL, Dr Koukash and others will be able to push through some new ideas and get RL where it needs to be.
Re: Sam Burgess to Union
Hardly fair to say Edwards took Union gold. As far as I am aware a major reason why he is in RU is because he couldn't get a job in RL and he hasn't tapped up any League players that I know about.
Re: Sam Burgess to Union
Just a point. Andy Farrell has denied any involvement in the persuading of Sam Burgess into the nether world. Seeing as how he took the time and was bothered enough to give an inspirational speech to the squad when we were at a low ebb last season is enough for me to believe him. So all this talk of banning him is for me way over the top. He's a top bloke
Re: Sam Burgess to Union
The problem with calling for bans etc is we are then in effect behaving exactly like Union did when the boot was on the other foot.

Mainly from Wales and I suspect that in the past this helped England win more six nations than they should have done and perhaps also explains why now they now have to poach players from Rugby League with Wales now being at more full strength than perhaps they were then.keptinthedarkfans wrote:Correct We can't have it both ways. As for Farrell, I could not care less about him making speeches to the Wigan team. What I am more concerned about is him ever being ever involved in taking players away from our game like he did with his own son who from what I have been told was not keen on going to Union at the time at the time he defected.

Whats laughable about this thread regarding Burges going to union and Farrel and Edwards enticing league players to go over. The same people supported Wane and lenagan for hawking all our world class players abroad to any one who would listen Lenagan saying there could be up to 10 in the next 3 years union/australia/new zealand. does not matter we are still losing these players once they have gone do not give a damn where to. should not be let go in the first place.

You try stopping them when contracts are now no longer worth the paper they are written on and like many others in the country today, want to better themselves when there is now more money in a rival code and also in a different competition on the other side of the world.keptinthedarkfans wrote:Whats laughable about this thread regarding Burges going to union and Farrel and Edwards enticing league players to go over. And do you think for one minute that Union clubs did not try, when many of their players defected to League prior to 1996 when their game went professional (Officially).
Like what has been said on another thread, the boot is now on the other foot!
