We have been hated by many supporters over the years and this one will be a damned sight worse. If Ben wishes to continue in Rugby League and I for one hope that he does then he will face the anger of the fans for many a season. And this is where we as Wigan supporters must support Ben Flower. He's not a criminal but rather a man who retaliated without thinking. I do not and did not like what he did but I am not going to jump on the band wagon to get rid of him. We are bigger and better than any other club.
Do you think if he was Wigan born he would have got more sympathy than he has.
Hock got a drugs ban, eye gouging and internal discipline issues yet some did not want him to go and thats before he has knocked over people.
Some people including myself where blind re Hock and defended him rather stupidly I might add because my faith in him was not repaid. As for being or not being born wigan it really does not concern me because I am defending Flower the man not the wiganer.

The point was not just directed at you but at people on here who say we should get rid but backed Hock.
I backed both until its obvious you have to get rid and Flower has done something that is bad but its his first offence at the club and he was provoked.

I backed them both and still do. Hock because I know him personally and of his personal traits.I do not know Flower personally but he still has the same support off me and always will have my full backing WHY because he is one of us.

And i am glad to hear that. And i agree with you just wished all would feel the same.
Your underlined part is a mistake on my part and thanks for picking it up. I would not get rid of Flower due to his provocation and good record. Hock was on his last chance and blew it. Which is a pity.

He really jossed me off on Saturday and I can't defend what he did. But as I said earlier he has been hounded rather unfairly. I sent him a message of support via Twitter and look forward to the day he will pull on The Shirt again!!

I too reacted in anger on Sat night. But everybody deserves a fair hearing and a second chance and he is very repentant.
Up until that unfortunate 'rush of blood' incident I was a big fan of Ben - still am. Reminds me very much of 'Rocky' Turner, Wakefield back in the Neil Fox era.
All the best.

Sorry but any ban should not be accepted, if it is deemed excessive then we should fight it as hard as possible. For me anything more than 8 matches is excessive.

Also Westwoods thuggish behavior in last year's GF didn't seem to attract any extra punishment because of that.

Really hope the club stand by Ben Flower. It's clear Shaun Wane intends to and rightly so. Very handy player and a very decent bloke by all accounts. Sure it was a bad one but some of the national red tops have practically knocked Ebola and Islamic State off their headlines for this!
As for bringing the game into disrepute. Give over. I work in a football town and the football fans love it. There's even 2 lads from Blackpool decided to come down and watch a live game for the first time next season on account of the publicity and what they perceived to be exciting stuff.
I'd love Flower to come back and triumph over this adversity.
