Whitehaven gave warrington a game last season , Leigh v Saints a few years ago. It happens, and as we are in the middle of a bad patch, why is it that much of a surprise.

I don't have the small village mentality, but your question that I answered didn't mention Wigan, just compared York, Pia and UTC, of which I would say UTC are the much superior side.Doveoverdave posted:
Rob they will be in SL next year WITH A NEW IMPROVED TEAM.
Their team was a depleted as our own and they gave us more than a game.
Hells bells man a team beats Hull KR and you think we (as the Wigan team) should quaking in our boots.
You have the small village mentality of a Leyther or Feathestone fan.
This is Wigan rugby league club we're talking about!!
UTC in SL will change out of all recognition from the team that played tonight.MrsLam posted:
Why not?
Give us some FACTS then!GeoffN posted:As a regular watcher of all 3 teams, I presume?Doveoverdave posted:
No IMO
No-one's arguing that fact, read the posts!Doveoverdave posted:
By any stretch of the imagenation this is a lower division outfit than those in SL.
In your opinion then, on tonights performance, could we have posted large scores against the opposition faced by Leeds or Saints?GeoffN posted:No-one's arguing that fact, read the posts!Doveoverdave posted:

You were comparing them to Pia and York - not to SL teams.
Yes we should have beaten them easily, but that wasn't your (rhetorical) question.

again, unknown, as I didn't watch either game, so I am just as unqualified as you to guess. In your opinion then, on tonights performance, could we have posted large scores against the opposition faced by Leeds or Saints?
I think they lie somewhere betweek SL and NL1. As a regular spectator at Whitehaven their defence was a lot tighter than an NL1 side, and their fitness was also greater. As Mario said, Haven gave Warrington a game last year but their fitness faded after 60 minutes, UTCs was there for the full 90.Doveoverdave posted:

They had 5 players out tonight.(coaches mouth)

As a lower division side I feel that any Wigan side should put such opposition to the sword. As have Saints & Leeds this evening.
They may be the best side in France, is that such a big deal, honestly?
I would also wager they don't win every week by cricket scores.
