It was good to see open rugby played by Salford today, not seen much these days. I wish we could see more, it makes games more exciting. Am I getting to old but don't I remember that how rugby use to be played.

We need 2 hour length friendlies! Today we only came alive in the last 15 minutes!

Felt sorry for Sam Powell, he seemed to be on his own as a playmaker & organiser after George went off with what looked like a suspected concussion!

However I hope Wigan refund anyone who made the effort to go down. There is supporting your team and having a club take the piss out of paying fans.
Since you are obviously not one who 'made the effort' perhaps you should keep your comments to yourself.
I went without 'effort' and had a bloody good day out. Great to get back into the swing and unlike many, I have taken many positives from these two games.
I reckon we will be OK.

And to prevent anyone contemplating suicide after today's result, may I offer a guaranteed antidote?

Our half backs were on a hiding to nothing after Flower and Clubb went off. Their pack won that battle all right.

The final score wasn't as bad as I thought it might have been at half time.

:conf: What I saw today was the same RL I saw last season and seasons before. Why did you think it was different?

Most rugby now seems to be played down the middle, the backs don't get enough chances. Today Salford opened up and played entertaining rugby, I for one found it exciting.

How do you think they opened up? Their primary play was the drop off pass through the middle. I do think Salford played very well but I saw nothing remotely different from Salford yo what every other club does.

RL is not an either / or game. You can go through both the middle and wide in the same game.

CP, you forgot to ask Mary if she'd made the beds, done the washing up and got the tea ready!

:doz:

Tad offensive KW, even in jest

On a serious note. Wigan did not play that well today and a good Salford team were made to look even better. Similar to when Leigh play in the championship and trounce opponents with razzle dazzle RL.

Today, Salford actually did the opposite and controlled the game with umpteen drop off plays and then finished them well. Those drop offs were straight up the middle. On occasions when Salford tried to go wide from the POTB they made mistakes which in many respects kept us in the first half.

Ultimately, though friendlies are just that and not the real thing.
