The age argument seems logical until you then look at the NRL where umpteen players of the same age play week in week out in a tougher competition. Oli is very well developed and RL educated by a father who does know a thing or two.

Very much this. The 6-0 score at half-time didn't with me, because they seemed to be running close to empty. Yes, we choose have been more decisive and scored more points, they were like a boxer who'd been pummelled for 8 rounds and was merely waiting for that knock-out combination to finish it off.

All the backs contributed enormously to that effort.

Granted he would be unfit but the Gels try from a tap was a classic example of fatigue; JJB was all over the place and his team mates were not far behind. Amazing how fatigue makes the game so much easier.

Not bad on Gelling's part to spot that area of weakness and take it on????

He (Gels) made Leeds look stupid PM. Fair play to him. The big test for me is v Widnes, v Kevin Brown defensively albeit if Wigan collectively play well we should win relatively easy. Widnes have earned their slaps on the back BUT Brown / Mellor largely kill teams in the opp 20. Control field position and we will be fine as will Gels.

Hope your right CP, I see this as our biggest test so far this season, Mellor and Brown are directing play well with their players reading their moves really good. A big test for Josh in this game too as I think his wing side will
be targeted.
Widnes aren't a team full of superstars, but they're well organised and running for 80 minutes.

Based on the Leeds match we have two exciting centres paired up with two top wingers - all of them young, and all getting better. They were a joy to watch in the 2nd half and I wouldn't change them. Our right side of Manfredi, Gelling, Bateman tore the mighty Leeds to pieces. Get the halves sorted and this team can do some real damage.If MM was fit,can't see who would beat us in a GF.

Tautai's one handed carries still give me the willies but he has improved.

As to Gelling I think people forget he was rightly dropped at the end of last season.

If I were to be generous I'd put his brain farts down to trying to win the game single handed. He doesn't need to do that. He doesn't need to try and do something spectacular every time he gets the ball.

With him and Sarge as centres I always think they think they have to do something and patience isn't something they know anything about. So daft things occur.

Exactly, get the half backs sorted out and one way to do that is by getting a Stand Off like we had in Finch & Green and not a Scrum Half playing at Stand Off, where as far as I am concerned, Williams is not as effective and showing his true potential as he was when playing in his proper position of Scrum Half.

And I am not the only one saying it!
