That'd be an idea, loan some of our youngsters out to gain experience, just not for us and then we can see them perform week in week out and judge whether we want them after that.

But they're all needed for the 1st team squad!

Leeds did it quite a lot 2/3 years back.

I actually agree, if he wants to leave then his heart just isn't in Wigan and well when you're heart has gone then I think you're motivation goes too. I thnk he is an excellent player, but and the end of a day is his career, and with any job that you do you like to seek pastures new at sometime, perhaps he is looking to try NRL before he is 30?
well good luck to him, just a shame he doesn't want to stay (if this is true of course!) He will be missed :(

But it's the same argument as with Farrell. What's the point of these nice valuable contracts that the players get if the players can decide halfway through that they're not interested anymore?

All the fuss in the media about Ashley Cole and Chelsea just goes to show that sports contracts are NOT considered the same as contracts you or I might have for our jobs where we do have the right to look for alternatives. But then, I'm not being paid anything like the money these sports people are on so my employer doesn't have so much of an investment in me as they would have in a SL or soccer player.

Carney's under contract to do a job, if he's not prepared to do that job then he should be dropped or fined, or negotiate a way out of the contract. He's not doing his job if his mind is elsewhere, and that's no good to Wigan.

Of course, if he's still committed to the club then I wish him well in regaining fitness, he looked better on Friday than last Monday and seems to be getting back to speed a little bit.

At least Farrell went for a fee. My understanding is that Carney wants to be released from his contract, making him a free agent. We should definitely not do this - Carney is a valuable asset of the club and if he goes early we need to be compensated for losing his services.

Taken from a Stuart Fielden interview on totalrl.com:-

‘I’ll be 28 when this deal finishes, and if you want to go you can’t be any later than around that time. Some might say going now is the best time, but that’s not an option that’s open to me, because I’m signed up at Bradford. So if I want to go, 2008 is the time, and it is something which is high on the list of things I want to do.’

That's the way to honour a contract, Brian!!

Wat will happen if both Dallas and carney arent playing on sat? its bad enough that he is going down under.
I think it is really sad that carney is leaving, he
will be surely missed :( but you never know Millward might persuade him to stay

We'll have probably aspinwall and another youngster on the wing or two youngsters on the wing, with two youngsters inside. We'll just have a relatively new back line.

thats fair enough that he will be missed by you, but you can see that in his heart he has already gone.
