How to avoid the MPG? Win more games!
Like we should have won last night. Why was TL taking that last minute drop goal? Sam or George should have been in position to kick it. Tommy isn't a good kicker. Sam and George are.
Game management, or lack of it.
I know it's against the grain but Matty Smith would have kicked it and we'd have won. Last year we were nicking games this year we're not.
Large credit to George again last night on his quality goal kicking in the most awful conditions.

Game management, you are spot on Ted and this starts with team section before the game kicks off.
Why oh why do we have an player who's played centre for England playing in the 2nd row and instead we use a winger at centre who simply cannot play centre play.
We had next to no options in using Budgie at centre with Ollie, Gells and Batty out, but any of those 3 returning should surely be a simple team choice.
In my opinion this let's me think that Shaun Wane has little idea of how a back line plays and with the restricted options of using a player at centre who can't fluidly pass a ball, time his runs and run the angles that an experienced centre can.
If you don't have any option then it's tough,but when you have capable players available to make suitable changes then the book stops with the coach, as he's making the wrong choices.
It costs me over £100 to attend a Wigan game, and with the way I think Wane is going about this now with players returning is losing my energy for any enthusiasm of this team.

Warrington with their disastrous start are 3 points behind us.
Catalans with new coach are 4 points behind us .
Widnes finding a bit of resurgence are 6 points behind us.
Warrington and Catalans are the must win games with Widnes as a bonus.

I think our GF win last season was more down to luck than Shaun Wanes ideas.
It's been well mentioned what bad luck we had last year with our injuries and of course that's true.
The fact that all our returning players had storming matches in the final, whereas the key Warrington players looked jaded was just good timing for us an I'll timing for wire.
I know I'm like a stuck record on this but to play a winger at centre ahead of an international grade centre is really beyond a joke, and for me this has cost us big points this season.
Our line attack has been garbage for a number of seasons now and I see little change in this.

That was the only time Wane had the option of playing Bateman at centre in place of Burgess. So it was only 1 point lost, if indeed it would have made the difference seeing that two of tries we conceded were on the other flank, Gildarts attempted tackle on Cudjoe being particularly poor.

Fair comment, I had thought that one try had been scored from a kick where Budgie had chance to clear the ball but a Giants player beat him to the touch down. Commentary suggested that Budgie wasn't on his game for that try.

With Sunday looming as the must win game to end all must win games, I was disappointed to read that Joel is joining Tautai and Gelling in the spa.
Apparently no injuries during a game means just the 1 injury. Of the much trumpeted medical miracle that lead to 6 returnees (1 from suspension, 1 from an enforced head sit down and 1 2 weeks late from a tweak in training), we are back to square one.
At least the names change, so we get some variety.

I do not know where this idea that Bateman is an international class centre comes from. Yes I know that he played a couple of games there last season but let's be realistic he is no more an international centre than I am.
In any case playing him at centre would leave the big hole in the second row that he has just filled in his return.
