Optimism? can't be a Wigan warriors fans forum user and have that.

True fans only see negatives and give backhanded compliments.

Remember it's all IL fault, we would be walking the league if we had Edwards.

Jobs for boys

Wigan Booooooo

2nd in league due to luck only.

Who is to blame then for our average performances of recent years if not IL? Responsibility is on the man/woman at the top and they must take the blame. Also 2nd in the league after a handful of games proves nothing. If we are second in the league at the end of the season and dont win the GF that is failure again.

The bit in bold is 100% true. Without him we would be mid table. That's the position we should be evaluating the team from.

The same field who was to light weight last year and wouldn't cut it?

We also don't know that. Apart from Zak we have never really had issues with fullbacks and attack, our plays seem designed to release them.

Look at Escare at Salford to Wigan.

Last year we were top of the league after several games. But ended up with nothing. Without 2 Harry Smith’s 2 drop goals and Field’s tries we would be lucky to be mid table. The one real test was Catalans away and we were blown off the park. The next two performances will show whether we have the right to be optimistic for the rest of the season. A tricky tie at Wakefield who are playing with confidence and St Helen’s side who are streets ahead of everybody else.

Last time I looked Field and Smith were in our team so if we won due to contributions from them, then our TEAM won. It's a nutcase idea to take every winning contribution out of the equation and then say "but without them we'd have lost!" Well duh! You think? Take the best players and winning contributions out of any team and they lose. We might just as well say "if Faz hadn't made that run to set up the drop goal then we don't win" or "if the pack hadn't stood up to theirs then we lose". The point is he did, they did, Field did and Smith did. That's how a TEAM works.

Well said to the above poster. All good teams have a best player who at times wins you games. We've not been great this season but we need to realise SL is a strong competition now and on their day, any side can beat anyone.
We got nilled a few times last year and scored hardly any points. Just enjoy watching us score good tries and winning some games,.not giving it the "What if"

Super League a strong competition? St Helens GF winners for the last 3 years,CC cup holders and top of the league again.Warrington and Leeds usually up in the top 4 are in dire straights.Castleford down in the basement since Powell left and Hull promise every year and win nothing.Only Cats look capable of getting anywhere near Saints but were beaten soundly by them early in the season. As for the rest can anyone see them winning a GF this year?,it would be a brave man to bet on them going all the way and that includes Wigan. If that is a strong competion i would hate to see a weak one.

What I meant by strong competition is all teams have decent players and can pick up results. Hudds beating Catalan, Toulouse beating saints, wakey beating wire. I'm not saying all teams are world class but a strong competition consists of sides all having a chance before the ball goes up in the air.

England and GB sides for years had representatives from just a few sides (Saints, Leeds, Wigan etc) The league is full of rep players even those down the bottom.

Would you say the premier League is a strong comp? Best league in the world some say but always won by the same side. The NRL has its good sides and struggling sides but again, everyone can get a result!

That's what I meant

I think there about as many plausible GF winners in SL as there are in the NRL.
