Thats rubbish world class players have off games bad games!
Higham on top of his game is good Newton on top of his is world class. Highams tempremant isnt that bad as he never plays so it wont be bad! Like it was posted before weve just signed another injury prone player for a world class plyer typical.

Of course they do but I was referring to consistency both over a season & over 80 minutes and Newton is not world class-very few players are and to suggest he is of that calibre is ,to use your expression "rubbish".He's a good, sometimes great player with flaws.
So asserting that Higham never plays and so Newtons temperament is therfore acceptable is totally illogical -getting banned for half a season is ok and a natural result of playing rl then!
I dont think the ban is much of an issue as we have never (apart from Davico) binned off a player who has been injured for 10 games. Its just a total mess which will come back to kick us up the ass next year when we face the Bulls in later rounds. Remember how bad a start Bradford had this year and what did they do? You need class players to the end of the year and next year we will be alcking that in the hooker position when we didnt need to.

I think the ban is actually the nub of the issue and stems from a different source than injury. One's physical, the others in the head.
One of our big problems over the last few seasons has been our poor starts-Bradfords strong finish after a poor start was probably the exception rather then the rule.I would rather have a strong start and worry about the finish from a position of strength.
I hope you're wrong about the back end of next season but we'll have to see what next season brings.
Interesting times!

Lets hope our apparently second choice (behind GB no 1.)hooker plays as well as our previous second choice full back when given the starting shirt. I dont think you'll find many Hull fan complaining about Briscoe.

If Higham isn't that good, why would Saints refuse to let him come to us?

Maybe Terry has some weird GF curse? If so then hopefully 2005 will be the last time Bradford will win a GF for the next 4 years!

Joking aside - Terry going to Bradford has been a rumour for a considerable amount of time. So it must have been on the cards before the Higham/Terry/70K multi coloured swop shop debacle.

Had he said to ML/IM/DB that he desperately wanted to stay at Wigan and wanted a new contract then it is likely that he would have signed one before he remodelled long's face. Had he been refused ala Robinson then I would have thought that it would have been "leaked" to the fans - which would have caused an uproar. So from my view, that silence means Terry wanted to go.

As has been discussed on here many times - there is no point trying to keep a player that doesn't want to stay. I hope that Terry does OK for himself at Bradford (although not too well) and that Higham can prove the doubters wrong and go on to prove saints made a mistake letting him go.

At least Terry has a decent chance of picking up a GF winners medal. HE deserves it... all those finals and nothing to show for his efforts.
I'm not sure if he has. Bradford and Leeds are both going through a reshuffle of players similar in scope to our own, and both teams will look very different to the teams from this year. Will they gell, or will they have problems fitting the pieces together? Only time will tell but there's no guarantee Bradford will be the same force next year as they ended up being this year.

Lets face it Millward was quoted in the MEN as being a fan of Higham from his Leigh and Stains days. In all honesty he is more of a protege. Higham followed IM to Stains and I always thought it was a matter of time before he turned up here!

It was posted earlier that Newton went missing in defence at times, I agree with that and the fact that his attack was second to none, what worries me is that weve replaced like for not so like! Higham is quick and pretty good in attack but so too is Godwin, we have brought in an impact bench player but not someone who could reliably start and defend the worst teams can throw at us for 20 minutes. IMO we need someone like Clarke who will defend his bits off for the first twenty mins (Top 3 tackler in SL last season) but isn't fantastic in attack who can then be replaced by someone who's agile and fast. Look how well its worked at Wolves this season with him and little Gleeson. Or better still we bring in a hooker who can do both!!!!

You asked how stupid WIgan were to let Newton go. Wigan ain't stupid at all, because Higham will not repeatedly get himself into trouble with referees for persistan high tackling, nor will he perform any dirty antics like Newton did on Long a couple of months ago.

The trouble is that Newton gives away FAR too many penalties and Higham is younger and smarter.
So highams a good boy, never gives away penalties? never high tackles? and never performs dirty antics? Ridiculous every player does. Wigan have got rid of the best/2nd best hooker in GB for someone who doesnt rank inside the top 5 in my books! I think you'll find if you actually watched Newton this season his temper was a lot more controlled upto the latter part of the season where he did admittedly lose the plot and it did lead to his lengthy ban. But saints werent willing to release Higham, Bradford has to pay £70k for him, yet Wigan have been stupid and let Newton go for free. Only aspinwall, beswick and williams, out of those who are going were out of contract. the only player we've sold is Farrell, what is wrong with the club? If the players we've released have been snapped up so soon, then the clubs they have signed for would be willing to pay to get them, yet the only money we've made is from Faz!!!

It better pay off this gamble becuase it is a massive gamble. And no millward inherited these class players, he didnt make them he inherited them
He was there 5 years...I'd say only about 4 of the current Saints squad were there then - Long, Sculthorpe, Cunningham & Wellens.

Seriously anybody who thinks Micky Higham can pass a rugby ball is sadly mistaken.

Out of interest how many games has he played for Saints these last two years and how often has he been injured :doz:
