I have read the comments made and believe a smoking ban is fine within the JJB BUT there should be areas for smokers to go to have a smoke. I basically hink this because people should be allowed the freedom to enjoy themseleves as hey choose within the terms of the law at a social gathering. If people are no longer allowed to smoke in a certain area then shouldn't drinking be limited to so many pints as its harmfull to yourselves and others when your drunk in terms of the health and saftey in walking up the stairs at the JJB intoxicated and the intimidation drunks CAN (not does) bring onto other members of the public. Just a thought?!?!

it effects other peoples health so for me it shoudl be banned. i dont want to watch a game throguh a big cloud of smoke i want tog o to the jjb smelling nice and watch a game of rugby. i dont want to cough and come out smelling of smoke because someone infront of me couldnt wait 80 mins to have a fag. if you ask me its a disgrace. you dont go there to smoke you go there to watch a game of rugby. the people who smoke obviously dont give a toss as they wouldnt do it otherwise because it effects other peoples health. why should the people who dont smoke suffer because someone in the stands was to impatient to have a cig for a few hours.

A total ban on smoking in public places isnt very far away anyway, so at least if the JJB stadium is already non-smoking, the smokers who attend matches will already have had good practice for when this ban means they are unable to smoke in ANY public places! As we know the ban has been in place for over a year in Rep.of Ireland, and has proved to be a successful and popular decision! Its on its way folks so its time to get used to the idea!!!

It irritates me at times when this site is not used by more people due to comments like this.
Fraggle recomended a site to check out if there were any problems on here and a post on there stated that the member has stopped visiting this one due soley to comments like this. This person was knowledgable about the club and its history and would be a welcome poster on here but she doesnt want to read pages of this kind of stuff.
As i said it irritates me at times.

I'll probably get slaughtered for this but here goes....

As an occasional cigar smoker (I wouldn't smoke in my seat at the stadium) I have to say that I don't want to sit next to a smoker either, but purely because it annoys me, not because I fear for my life! Seriously, to complain purely on health grounds when in an open air stadium is not IMO a very strong argument. The damage from passive smoking in this situation must be minute. I'd much prefer people to come on here and say "ban it" because they don't like it, rather than "ban it because I think it will harm me". I know this next is a bit of a daft point, but even if smoking was harmless, I still wouldn't want to sit next to a smoker purely because I don't like the sensation. I am pleased it has been banned for this reason alone.

BTW I hate the smell of brown sauce too, but can't really complain because it does me no harm!! Are all you who complain on health grounds happy to sit next to a smoker if the prevailing wind blows it away from you? I suspect not, so please be honest when stating your reasons for supporting the ban. :)

the reason i am glad it is banned because i hate the habbit its disgusting and annoying i have nothing against people smoking as long as they are no were near me.
jimmy u said that in your opinion that smoking doesnt really harm people in an open air stadium (near enough what u said) but i got to disagree as its happened to me plenty of times when a smoker as been sat directly below me every time they blew the smoke out i got a mouth of smoke and so did my mate and if that is not health damaging i dont no what to call it, please give me your view on why getting a mouth full of smoke isnt health damaging.
