At the end of the day, moving was not an option - firstly, from where we were sitting it was difficult to see if other seats were availible in the stand, and had we moved then these idiots would have won.
Dont you worry, I will be writing a formal letter of complaint to the club demanding action. This will detail seat numbers etc....
What you must think about is this:
As I have already said, I have followed the team for 13 years and although I will not be taking my family again, I will not be put off.
But
What if I was new to the game? Taking my partner and child to watch 'a family game' for the first time.
What would my impressions of Wigan Rugby League Club, Wigan people and Rugby League in general be?
The damage these people can do to the club and the game in general should not be underestimated and MUST be stopped.

I agree wholeheartedly, I was very disappointed by a minority in South stand . the chants I heard were not rascist but were the sort of thing you expect of drunken idiots/football crowds. calling the parental marriage of yorkshire folk into question, suggesting illicit liasons with creatures of an Ovine persuasion, and suggesting the referee spends time providing for his own pleasure . This is not acceptable and the stewards should be stopping it. On a related note did anyone see any smokers?

As usual I have misgivings about this topic. I fully understand the reason for the complaint, but also don't want us to end up playing in a totally sterile atmosphere a la Odsal. Somehow, a balance has to be struck.

I actually teach some girls that stand with this group. The girls are very nice, well mannered, pleasant people. I have spoken in the past with them about the antics of the group. Whilst they acknowledge some of what takes place, they also point out that they got to know this group because they travel to support the club home and away. they also say that bar a couple of ringleaders, most of the group are fine.
How true that is I cannot say. I prefer to sit lower down and to the side of the goal posts because the view is better IMO
Has such a group not always existed? We actually attracted the Wigan Wall Boy / Goon squad element back in the day. Crowds were far worse then too despite what some may have you believe. I think it was Warrington but I can remember seeing bananas thrown at Gilly and Ellery.

Maybe the stewards should be fussing over this rather than stopping 5 year olds from going down to hug Max?

Most of these songs have been around for years though and aren't meant as serious and offensive. They're just songs. Other clubs have songs about Wiganers and other teams/players. I don't think this should be looked into, a lot of rugby fans can take this as a bit of friendly banter and just laugh it off.
It's the deliberate shouting at individuals that bothers me. I've seen it at finals where fans have shouted at fans of their own team not realising (because as mentioned above, they weren't wearing the club shirt) Fighting and swearing at individuals needs to be stopped but a bit of swearing never did me any harm when I was little, am talking about at rugby matches not at home cause my parents very rarely swear.

What i suspected though. They'll take on the little defenseless kids that will just look up at them sadly and then return to their seats rather than those that may cause them a bit more effort and make them work for their money. These are the ones that need sorting not the little harmless kids and teens at the front.
Again on Friday night, someone had to come all the way along the row behind me to meet up with their mate cause bald blue man wouldn't allow him to walk across the bottom. They weren't even planning to stay at the bottom. Pointless, completely pointless.
