My only hope, is to hope that hope can be maintained, even though the reality check says, there is little hope, so I hope YOUR "THERE IS A LITTLE HOPE FOR US" MESSAGE IS RIGHT. Phew its tough being a Wigan fanprimrose-n-blue posted:Thanks Mike for you I guess thats some kind words on my behalf.mike binder posted:

Look you pie lovers....
Some of my comments might seem like a splinter under your finger nails, but the harsh reality of it, is that you are under the quash.
Dobson is a kid (happy birthday) who although is a good aquisition is no magic wand.
Playing Saints is not really a good yard stick to gauge any improvement in Wigan but what I did see against Saints tells me you are marginally better in attack with Dobson than Moran and his defence seems as good as Moran's at this stage.
That does argue for better performancies overall, but Saints still got beat by Hudderfield and should have been beaten by Warrington on their own ground too in recent weeks so their form is suspect.
The four teams that you have a hope to catch...
OK lets break it down.
Wigan(4 points)
I see that there could be enough improvement for you to win 5 possibly 6 max at further improvement from all your remaining fixtures.
(14/16)max
(1)
Quins(9 points)
McLindon is returning so I think they will improve a great deal!
Under previous form there are 3 games not including Wigan v Harlequins(home/away) that the Quins should be nailed-on to win but I think they have a good chance of winning 5 that'll give them 15/19 points.
15 points means if you beat them home and away, with the further improvement to win 6, you'll stay up on merit. Your best hope is that Salford beat them.
(15/19max)
(2)
Reds(10 points)
They have a chance of winning 5 games not including v's Wigan although I think that they may only win 2 if they get beat tonight...which will give them 14 points and you could, with the further improvement needeed to win 6 games, beat them. But should they beat Harlequins then their old form will have returned and will be a top six contender.
(14/20max)
(3)
Wildcats(10 points)
They have a good chance of winning 2 of their remaining games but no more than 3, that will put them on 14/16max not including the games v's Wigan
(14/16max)
(4)
Tigers(10 points)
Like Wakefield, they have a good chance of winning 2 of their remaining games but no more than 3, that will put them on 14/16max but unlike the above teams Castleford control their own fate as you don't have a remaining fixture against them.
(14/16max)
There are lots of variables still at this stage but one thing is for sure..you cannot afford to drop a single point against the above rivals.
Lose any game at any stage and you will be relegated with almost a month of the season remaining.
Sorry to be there bearer of the grim outlook once again but thats what a reality check is!!
