Shame for the Whitehaven fans. A weekend match would be far better for them than a Friday night. I did not realise until recently that the Premier League has first priority in terms of fixtures at any stadia where football and rugby league are played.
Hopefully we get a decent crowd and Whitehaven earn a bob or two from it.

Isn't it just a case of a) keeping peace with the football club - not go into unecessary squabbling by having a saturday match in the press (i think latics play on sunday) b) friday nights are general rugby nights, as voted for by fans afterall...
It is hard indeed for Haven fans who do generally travel quite well with respect to population/distance etc..
I'm sure we'd get a gate of 5,000 and a nice cheque going to Cumbria. Just hope nothing flares up in the RL media about the Wilkes pre-season match in 2007 where Haven caused a fuss over sending our U21s and losing out on money - i shouldnt think so

Just been looking at the Haven fans site (independant) most fans agree that it will be a good pay day but annoyed its a Friday - so nothing to talk about then.
