How much silverware would our past legends have if they were playing in this team?

to which you replied, Yes, last game last season, to which i replied one game does not make a legend, and the silverware comment was ment for his entire career not just the 2 years he was/is herepedro wrote:this is what we replied toA49 wrote:In order to achieve legendary respect you have to perform against Saints and, as I said in an earlier post, I cannot recall Barrett even turning up against Saints.

Maybe, maybe notpedro wrote:Unbeaten for the Aussies and won a good few origin games......higher level than most of the current GB legend we have produced.
Never said he was a legend...I said he turned up for the saints game last year. You cant deny he didnt so case closed.
Very true what you say Matthew, he is supposed to be there to create opportunities, the forwards don't create the gaps enough for him to do this, unfortunately, and that, I feel, is why we are so inconsistent.Matthew wrote:The problem Barrett has faced when he has played stains is that his opponents have been more up for it than his team mates were.
This has meant that he has been swarmed whenever he has had the ball; because they have identified him as the only consistent threat and no-one has stepped up to take the pressure off of him. Also he has had to do more work in defence then he would normally have had to do - after all we didn't buy Barrett to be a tackling machine.
On the one occasion that his team mates were up for it against our hated rivals (the last game of the regular season last year) we beat them.

Barrett carried the team for nearly all of last season - without him in the side we got absolutely hammered. The stains games were the only games that he couldn't turn around for us and make a real difference (apart from the last one). If there were any fairness in the game then he would have won the man of steel award by a country mile.old hooker wrote:Luke Robinson scored a hat trick against Stains,Kevin Brown was superb in the same game. I take it therefore they are entitled to legendary status?

Messrs Brown and Robinson had a couple of stand out games (Robinson more so than Brown) however I don't remember them being the sole attacking threat in the team and making something out of nothing nearly every time they played for Wigan. Brown's signature move was the reverse pass into the front row of the stand!
Neither has been subjected to the amount of attention that Barrett has faced everytime we have played stains. In fact he should take it as a mark of respect that stains consider him such a threat.
If you don't like Barrett you would be better served to just say so!
