the reason why one player is getting singled out is because he has clearly made no real conscious effort to move on from how disappointing...we dreadful actually...he was last year.

He is still scared to catch a ball and scared to take a hit and then does the cowardly thing of tripping a played so avoiding any chance of real physical contact. When he bothered to join in attacks his positioning was awful for a full back, never giving himself to support a play, rather getting in the line wanting to play second receiver and pass it on so he wouldn't get hit. He never supports a player making a break even though he is more than fast enough to back up these plays. When they had a try disallowed tim smith (who is just as bad for not righting the wrongs in his game by the way) had flapped at a tackle but been walked over then mathers had a clean shot at a player who'd at least partially been slowed down and he made an even worse attempt than smith.

This thread is singling mathers out because simply he has been awful and been given chance after chance and hasn't taken any of it on board. He doesn't have the adequate commitment i'd expect from a player at our club. he isn't the only player to play badly on sunday, and coley got more abuse from the crowd (crowd cheered louder for him going off than for fielden coming back on in place of him), but mathers is clearly lacking what we want to see from a wigan no.1, i'd say even more so relatively than the other players who let themselves and us down on sunday.

get him out y they can hes the worst player ever to put a wigan top on.i seen him catch 1 ball sunday and stop to wait for amos to take it off him.i think he want to pull hes finger out and start to look at what hes doing wrong i.e go on the toilet before match cos he looks like hes shitting it speacial when a high ball come hes way.like they say yeah hes dog shit of rugby league
