We would then be able to invite a Scottish,Welsh,French and London club to each league. It would also see the likes of Barrow Whitehaven Leigh and Widnes playing top class rugby league in the Lancs leauge and in Yorkshire they would have the likes of Halifax Dewsbury,Featherstone and Batley two leauges of 12 teams. More players playing at an higher level better choice for internationals. We would also be able to have 3 state games throughout the season Lancs V Yorks instead of the Majic weekend.
Surely a Lancashire league would exclude Stains,
Wire and Widnes, as they are Merseyside teams, and Hull is in Humberside

Administrators may come and go, and county offices may move as may their spheres of influence, but our emotional attachment to counties remain. Lancashire is north of the Mersey, west of the Pennines and spreads into south Lakeland in the form of Furness. Yorkshire is east of the Pennines and reaches the North sea. Warrington and Widnes are Lancashire teams and Hull is definitely Yorkshire.

Scottish , Welsh and some Irish supporters were lost to the 4 nations because England were the home representatives . I attended all GB games at home over the last few years but NZ .v. AUS was the only one this year
I know 99% of the GB team were English but i was happy to shout them on in a GB shirt .I missed out this year but i cant bring myself to shout on an England team .
Reading this back it seems petty but thats life
Well I would not support Scotland so why would you support England!? This is another aspect of how the RFL are running things.
They can hardly take England to play in Edinburgh or Cardiff so GB is needed.
It's OK to play as separate home nations in certain competitions but the RFL have seemingly done away with GB completely. In RU they have the home nations and Lions and given the level the (RL) game is played at in Scotland and Wales it makes more sense to me to come together as GB so everyone can cheer on a side with a chance of some success.
If they survive I am sure Celtic will one day produce a top class player or two but they won't produce 24 which is what you need for an international side so having GB would give any players they do produce an opportunity to play in a competitive side against the likes of Australia.
In my opinion seeing a couple of Welsh lads contribute to a GB victory over Oz or NZ is going to do more for the game in Wales than watching a Welsh team get battered by England year in, year out.

I kow I should not mention it on here but I got to. The other lot game, Scotland V Australia, Last three minutes, On the try line, Scotland on the ropes, defence held until time then ball went wide, try Scotland 9 Oz 8 kick to come. The whole of Scotland were willing the kick to miss. It did

Those three minutes did more for the union game than the RL have done all season. I enjoyed MM. I took the opportunity but I knew about it from this site and Sky. Little was done to advertise the MM in Scotland. Bus loads of fans from all over the central belt took the same opportunity but they were League supporters. It is not for the likes of Edinburgh warrior or myself. It should be sold to those not yet involved. That is what needs marketing. Put Scotland on against the English at Murrayfield a crowd is guarenteed. What do we get. A RL international played on a school pitch in Anniesland. Hardly likely to draw a crowd especially since nobody knew it was on.
Those three minutes Scotland lifted Union profile 100%.
League can do the same but not if it is hush hush,

I agree about the Scotland V Aus game, fortunately though there are countless examples of dull and boring games that more than make up for the odd decent game. Watched the Guinness Premiership HIGHLIGHTS the other night and it was ridiculous the amount of kicking. The odd tries that were scored were mainly due to poor defence, I have never seen so many penalties and drop goals in a 1 hour highlight show.

But RU is an established game in Scotland as are RU internationals being played at Murryfield so I am not sure what good this would have done with many playing the game anyway.
When England won the RU world cup there was an influx of junior players to my sons side. It tailed off after a season or so. One off unexpected victories may spark interest for a while but RU is already established in Scotland so once the shine has worn off it will hardly go back to being an unimportant sport.

Assuming you mean RL then there isn't a hope in hell of such a competitive fixture (as the RU one v Oz) for a Scottish RL side against the current England side. What good a thorough thrashing of the Scots would do for the game I don't know. I doubt people would travel from England to watch. Hence my idea about GB and paying a top international up there instead.

The Union profile gets lifted every year by the six nations in Scotland just as it always has done in all the nations involved. That is why Internationals are so important and RU have always known this. They have been fortunate in that they had the internationals in place as the 5 nations when they were still "amateur" but have had the good sense to realize they get a huge profile boost from them even though RU is professional. RL instead concentrates its efforts (such as they are) on club events like MM rather than striving for a meaningful international setup.

Murrayfoeld is out of the way of everything....certainly in comparison to Cardiff.
BRING IT BACK, BRING IT BACK.......CARDIFF ROCKED
i dont share the same view. Cardiff didnt really do anything for the game, or for Celtic Crusaders which is what the RFL wanted... they have now had to change names and travel north (towards the heartlands) to get a bigger crowd. The people of Wrexham wont take to them in a sparse area of the country for a few games a year.
Cardiff was good to start with, a day out but it's a pointless exercise ow.
Mind you, i wouldn't say no to a trip to paris or dublin once.

Dublin? Hell yeah if that came off. Not been to the 'murrayfield magic' but went to the millenium ones and loved it.
Come on RFL take it to Dublin
