I would have to disagree on this poinr.
Gaz Hock is one of the best second row forwards in Superleague, in fact thinking about this, the only good point abou this whole affair is it makes it less likely that an NRL club will come sniffing after him.

Gaz Hock was arguably Wigan's best player at the time of his ban. IL is an astute chairman and will not have broken the bank for Gaz. As others have mentioned I'm sure that there will be some very clear clauses in this rumoured contract that will release the club from their financial commitments should Gaz stray again. IL is showing lyalty to a player that has made a serious error of judgement in taking recreational drugs. Good businesses don't dispose of their most valuable assets and, although I am totally against the use of drugs of any sort, I believe that Gaz will have served his time and learned a harsh lesson. He's a Wigan lad and surely deserves the chance to make up to the club and the fans for his mistake.

Gaz Hock is obviously a very talented player but he has had good seasons and poor seasons for Wigan in my opinion. Just before his ban he was playing the best I have seen him play however the season before he was one of the players who started to play crap every time we got behind. By this I mean knocking on at the Play the ball when we had been starved of possession, holding down in the tackle etc etc. He was one of the players who was seen as untouchable by Nobby and so many fans but if he had been dropped to the reserves for a few games to improve in certain areas it may have been the kick up the backside he needed in order to improve his attitude and he might not have been in the mess he is in now (probably a bit over the top but so is the totally blind praise of god Hock imo). I don't think for 1 second that he always gave 100% for Wigan and it is only recently that he has lived up to much of his obvious potential. Nobody should be getting 5 year contracts never mind in these circumstances, I'd far sooner have Flanagan back.

People on here are talking as if Gaz Hock has popped his clogs and you have to be nice about him, he has had numerous brainfarts over the past few years I almost feel as if I have been watching a different player to most of you.

UPDATE: Gaz Hock has not signed a 5 year contact or any contract with Wigan RLFC or any other club.

Ask the bookies what odds they will give you on Hock NOT signing a new 5 yrs contract with Wigan. If the odds are good let me know and I will have a bet.
