Very true cp, they have it off to a fine art. And they always seem to tackle the ball carrying arm as well. So 8 times out of 10 it will classed as a knock on by the attacking team.cpwigan wrote:Wire use it both ways too Josie. RE an earlier post; not standing square at marker is the best way to screw any opposition team up. Officvials/RFL should be far less concerned with wrestling and more with this tactic at marker.![]()

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I will go with that CP.cpwigan wrote:I watched Wire v Leeds again nd I wasn't blown away. I thought Wire did the basics and their effort/enthusiasm was excellent which as already mentioned gives you a chance of winning any game. I saw nothing special though.
It seems Wire are up for every big game, and I know it now sounds like a stuck record, but The Smiths get their plans right for these big games.
Leeds spilled the ball by forcing it on too much when they should have stuck to basics and hard graft.
They also gave away too many trivial penalties all resulting in a massive possession percentage to Wire.

Regarding the two ref system, I don't reckon it's a good idea.
It seems to lead to a slower POTB from the Aussie games I have seen.
I really do feel we should stop following everything the NRL bring in. Both competitions, NRL and SL, should have to play international rules or as they should be known, The Rules.

How to beat Wire!
A thread was started on here a few weeks back asking how do you beat the Wire? Well for me it is simple and the same solution as to how to beat the Saints, stop their No 9 from controlling everything.

Couldn't help wondering tonight how much of a sustained run they will have in the play offs - hopefully they will all be cream crackered by then so it made me realise that I could tolerate them finishing top of the pile (just) as long as they get taken apart in the play offs and I don't even care who does it

I want the hubcap again just to shove their million plus points difference up their Scouse arses!OJ wrote:Couldn't help wondering tonight how much of a sustained run they will have in the play offs - hopefully they will all be cream crackered by then so it made me realise that I could tolerate them finishing top of the pile (just) as long as they get taken apart in the play offs and I don't even care who does it

So do I Kittwazzer, was just thinking what would hack them off the most but guess you are right as they would still say the hubcap was more important. Personally I do think being the most consistent team all year does deserve more recognition than it presently gets but obviously not if Dire win it!

Re: How to beat Wire!
People might think I am being naive but I genuinely believe we will win the league shield again due to us having probably the easier run in, after we beat Hudds and Leeds next 2 games, as well as beating Wire at Wire, our only real tough game then is probably Hull away. :eusa2:Kittwazzer wrote:I want the hubcap again just to shove their million plus points difference up their Scouse arses!OJ wrote:Couldn't help wondering tonight how much of a sustained run they will have in the play offs - hopefully they will all be cream crackered by then so it made me realise that I could tolerate them finishing top of the pile (just) as long as they get taken apart in the play offs and I don't even care who does it![]()

I think a lot will hinge on which of us wins the challenge cup quarter final as either us or them will get a rest for the semi and the final. Like your way of thinking though TrueBlueWarrior and hope you are right.

Can't get the chat I had with Hoff and Finch out of my mind. Forget Origin, every Oz schoolboy player dreams of playing in a Wembley Final. I still say lump on Finch for Lance Todd!
