Gaz, I'm upset and worried that someone like you would write something as appalling as this.

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion of course but it doesn't mean I have to agree with it and when you put something like this on the internet, you should expect to be commented upon.

Firstly, whatever the situation was with your baby and the police, I don't think that it gives you the right to comment on the whole of the British Police service. We are NOT all corrupt and the vast majority are here to do a job because its something we can be proud of. Let's be honest, we don't do it for the money so what else is there?

I'm still rereading your post trying to find the irony in it or the joke but I don't think it's there.

I take being called an arsehole very personally and if it had been said by some of the posters on here I wouldn't have cared but coming from you it seems to be so much worse. Have a word with yourself Gaz!! I'm sure that whatever the isolated incident you faced with the Police was, you are entitled to feel angry (as I'm sure you were/are) but that doesn't mean that I or 99% of my colleagues are power tripping, corrupt people.

Can't believe you've written this and hoping you'll post back pointing out the irony in the post that I've missed. But I don't think you will.

I'm genuinely horrified by your attitude.
In my youth the police where considered to be my enemy. As I was always fighting the figure of authority in one form or another. Now that I've matured a little I have since had the good fortune of meeting genuine well meaning coppers who do try to make the world a better place for us to live in.And just because a few bad apples upset the apple cart does not make all of them rotten. As does the rioting by a minority not make all of society rioters.

There are plenty people like that but they don't destroy everything in sight.

Sorry, I've gone off on one again :(
Spot on Josie a woman after my own heart and countless other thousands, agree with everything you have said

Sorry but anybody that thinks such illegal attacks are ok cannot complain about any rioters etc etc Officers like these do decent police offers more harm than good. Look at Northern Ireland to see what a rotten apple in the army or police can do in terms of damage.

WF, you simply cannot put EVERY person involved in what happen into 1 group all doing and thinking exactly the same. That is barmy.

Gaz, the people who are causing this are not the police, their hands have been tied over the years by a succession of namby pamby governments and do-gooders
unless we get back to proper punishments instead of "oh well they live in a deprived area" etc, this will always go on. You wouldn't dare do this in another country, and as Josie said,if they want to fight and riot, get the soldiers out of Afghanistan and tell the looters they have to go in their place...you will soon see the about turn. Innocent people are caught up in this for god's sake.

But every person involved in what happened is in one group "criminals" its just good to see some of these chavs get a taste of their own medicine for once. People were warned to be out the area, and if they were there with hoods up they would be assumed to be part of the "riots" although i object to them being called that, a riot is a random act of anarchy this is opportunistic crime and thuggery from scum holes who should be shot in the head

Your off your trolley WF. You are saying that every person out there is out there for exactly the same reasons which is nonsense and your solution is vigilante like and extreme at that advocating that the police can if they so wish murder teenagers. What on earth is that going to solve? do you think most police officers want to hurt and kill members of the public.

The problem is the police do have a tendency to generalise themselves then wonder why people generalise about them.

No I am an oddity. I believe in right wing law and order ideals and left wing social and economic justice; collective and individual social responsibility. Some describe it as Orwellian Socialism. Alas, you cannot rewrite history and since WWII, British society has changed dramatically. The horrors of war meant that people wanted to make a better / different Britain and one aspect of that was moving from children should be seen not heard to treating children in a more compassionate manner.

FWIW, some children today are far better than the best children of the past. The worst are bad. The reasons are never the same. I think many of the posters here would be shocked just how much, certainly how many messages children receive and register in their minds, often via the media. Most children (generalising) understand that a global economic crisis exists, times are difficult and know of the MPs expenses scandal (looting IMO). The access to information right or wrong that a children can obtain now is on a different level to what we ever were able to receive. If you are late 20's, 30's, the world of teenagers is totally different to even yours at that age.

I would agree there CP and i think there is bigger pressure on them to have tech gadgets such as iphones etc, but what i feel is the problem and its not just with children is that we've moved into a society were there is always something or someone else to blame, no-one takes responsibility for their actions
