Team Spirit, enjoying playing the game, passion, determination, understanding each other and the most of all desire.

All the things Wire had the we didnt.

I agree with the guy that posted the thread, beer or no beer he was spot on.

Wayne needs to earn his stripes now and prove he's not just riding the Madge wave.

We wont sniff the final with that sort of performance - one up rugby, and bad one up rugby at that.

Anything can happen yet and good as they have been this season it doesn't mean to say they'll be able to get through the play offs as easily.
Grasping straws with that one! :(
Maybe so but do you have a better idea?
Nope. I'm actually dreading the prospect of getting to OT and facing Wire or Leeds. Our team certainly matches either of theirs but they seem to deal with vital games better than us!

Its worth remembering that when SW took over from Madge, we all said we were willing to give him a chance. After the Giants game we thought we were in for a long dour season. Since then we got better and better. Not long ago we had a “Who can beat us?” thread - at that point, we thought no-one could!

Problem is, our expectations got higher and higher. We expected to sweep the board!

Even if we win jack, I still say Wane will have had a successful first year as a head coach!

Understand how you feel Kittwazzer but there is still time for Wire to implode like they have done previously despite Tony Smith's crop rotation. Got a text last night from a Wire fan saying que sera sera and had a Wire poster stuck on garage window this morning - congratulated both of them through gritted teeth and told them they're just the same as us right now i.e. have won nowt!

Must say they have the luck of the devil - last year we played them at their place the week after Wembley we lost the LLS as a result but this year they play us 2 weeks before the CC and also have what look like easier games for the remainder of the season but I am clinging on to the hope than anything can happen in sport. Not much else any of us can do really

Is there no prize money for finishing top cherry.pie? I agree with what you say but think the grand final has also been promoted by Eddie & Stevo to the detriment of the LLS. Being the most consistent team all year is a superb achievment in itself but has lost all the kudos it once had and even the fans called it the hubcap which is a damned shame

Josie - you've got me going dizzy! :)

We have all been conditioned to mentally devalue the achievement of winning the league. The shield is little more than a sop now.

There was a time when it was THE trophy everyone wanted to win because it confirmed the BEST team for the season. The CC was traditionally important for its Wembley connection. The Championship was little more than an additional trophy to extend the season!

Ask any football fan what they'd rather win - FA Cup or Championship!

cherry.pie wrote: What there shouldn't be is a 27 round qualifying tournament that fans buy their season ticket for which ultimately means little and simply provides placings for another tournament that fans have to shell out extra for which is seen as the only thing that actually has some meaning.

Unfortunately if we all decided finishing first was the most important achievement it wouldn't change anything. The clubs and players would still see the Grand Final as the most important goal, Sky would still do everything to ensure the Grand Final was the big prize and make everyone forget about the 27 qualifying rounds.
Hardcore fans are already questioning the point of buying season tickets to watch 13 matches which, in themselves, mean nothing. Maybe we should all take a step back and have a rethink?
