The only aspect I note, the player concerned is spending a fortnight at Wigan to see how he likes it. Would a bread & butter player be afforded such treatment or a world class one?

That's a valid point CP , suppose it's more of if he likes it here rather than prove himself to be good enough if it's the world class player .

The bottom line is that a kiwi going by the initials AB or nickname AB is training with Wigan for a fortnight. It is first hand info BUT that is all I know or have been told.

If AB was an international Kiwi, or even a seasoned top level NRL pro the player in question would not turn up for a two week trial. Top level pro's turn up to sign a contract, not to prove themselves.
This is another Gelling, not a Dean Bell signing.
Lets not get carried away here, just let the guy have a chance.
On the positive side, Tony Iro came along for a tial, not as good as his brother, but what a damagining wing / center combination they were for a short period they were.

I do not think this is a case of the player having to prove himself rather the player being happy and impressed enough by Wigan in order to sign.

Gelling is a Dean Bell recommended player.

Why all the secrecy?
Is someone going to get shot if they fill in the missing letters after AB?
If someone can explain why this is such a big secret I would be obliged :slee: :slee:

In the past players from NRL signed contracts for 3 or 4 years only to go back after 2 years because their wife or family could not settle here, maybe the player wants his family to meet other wifes and see their accomodation etc before deciding his future. Its a big move to come here and re-settle in a different life style and to see schools etc for his children.
