There is no such thing as a 'part time supporter'. You are either a supporter or you aren't. Having a season ticket makes no difference except in the heads of a few sad ST holders who feel it gives them extra credibility. Like buying a big fast car or a Harley Davidson, its usually a penis thing!Whelley Warrior wrote:But he does have a season ticket and is not a part time supporter!ancientnloyal wrote:WW can't read even the initial postancientnloyal wrote:Just wondering what kind of fanbase we have, I know we can only tell online but numbers can tell a lot anyway. I wasn't a ST holder when I lived in Aberdeen, but still came down for games, maybe not every week but still came down & that, then was almost 800 miles round trip!
And I was still a member of the 'Knights' now the Lotto with which I still have three different accounts with! So to my mind I was still a strong supporter of Wigan Rugby League!
I couldn't get down to Wembley for the Eagles game, thank God, due to work But I did go to an Aberdeen v Rangers game at Pittodrie with 1pm ko, with a load of Aderdeen ST friends wearing my Wigan shirt, scarf, hat etc, only to get thrown out by the police, along with my friends as well, when I stood up & applauded Ally McCoist's 100th goal

Managed to watch the game then in a pub lol
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

I did go to the Sheffield Cup Final, and when the final whistle blew I congratulated the bloke sitting next to me, who had been applauding Sheffield throughout the game.
He then told me he was a Saint Helens supporter!!!
If you don't believe me, ask my wife. Needless to say, she dragged me out before I could do anything I might regret!
I don't think he was wearing his Saints shirt. I was obviously supporting Wigan.

Re: How old are you? Ageing fanbase?
I'm a 37 year old woman (wish I could say girl!) and go to the matches with my dad (65), mum (62), sister (27) & son (13). How's that for a good cross match? We love it - there's something for everyone. My mum and dad can reminisce on previous years (Eric Ashton & Billy Boston days etc) and teach us about the past of the club, me and my sister like to talk about the good memories of our family (mum, dad & 4 sisters) all travelling down to Wembley all decked out in red and white and throwing friendly abuse to opposition fans who were stuck in traffic jams at the side of us (plus I'd be lying if I said the men in shorts don't help) and I can even take my 13 year old son and if he sees his mates in the South Stand I can just leave him to go off with them till the match is finished.
I think that shows just how good and adaptable and family friendly rugby league can be. As Wiganers we are really loyal anyway and I don't know about you guys but first rule of bringing up your kids right in our family was teach them respect and then secondly teach them about Wigan Rigby ha ha

You have hit the nail on the head KaylaRobbo: Rugby League is a family game for all ages and both sexes.

I'm 23 and go to games with a few lads of around the same age.
A couple of them have young children and no doubt will be taking them to their first games soon.
