Some fantastic ideas, no brainers really for the club ETC. The players should do a lap of honour in hold buggy type vehicles (not the NRL station wagons fiasco). One thing that has stood out for me in recent weeks is seeing Gilly with a walking stick the long term legacy of knee surgery no doubt down to him playing a full season on a heavily strapped crocked knee. Guys like him gave EVERYTHING for this club / fans they deserve far better!!!

IMO, every Ex player should be an automatic life member with free entry for life for themselves + 3 (?) guests.

I understand Brett Kenny could not come over BUT the RFL have missed a HUGE trick in not building the week around the 85 Final with interviews / added commentary from those who played alongside a repeat showing of that final.

I also hope Wigan win. Tomkins has no loyalty, brilliantly gifted player that he is.
Lest we forget, professional sportsmen are in it for the money first and foremost and why not?
Correct and time some faced that fact about modern day sport. Like any other job, people always want to better themselves and if they get the chance, they will go.

Are those calling Tomkins be any different?

I work in IT and in the past have worked as a contractor (freelance). When you do that you sign a fixed term contract much like in sport. I was (twice) offered more money to go and work elsewhere (again as a contractor) and I didn't take the offers. Why? Because I would have soon got a reputation as unreliable in the niche I worked in. When my contracts finished I got another one, usually for more money. It is not unreasonable to expect the players to behave the same way.

Now I am a full time employee and as such I have a notice period I must serve if I get another job. If a better one came along I could take it without breaking the terms and conditions of my employment contract by simply serving my notice period which is a month. Completely different to working to a fixed term contract where you are employed to do a job scheduled to take a certain amount of time.

When people talk about players bettering themselves no one objects to it. What they do object to is players breaking contracts to do so which in any other job would be equally frowned upon.
