I don't think anyone is saying he is a bad player, I also don't though find him a pleasure to watch. He looks uncomfortable playing centre and the reason I would agree that he isn't a natural rugby player - but by no means bad.
I would say that gelling is a player you would have in your team to do a job covering injuries, suspensions, fatigue etc but by no means be a first choice.

Dave O sorry ,thought we were talking about the IL/SW recent past. Obviously we seem to have given up on your Trent Barretts, who was a star ,but current plan seems to me to be working, and has been let down by out trainee coach.Thats been the strategic error.Even with this handicap we could win a top trophy on our day with the athletes we have.

It seems to be that Sam Tomkins is our most recent signing of a top drawer player.
Get Ryan Hampshire re-signed and that would be two top drawer players.
Re-sign Charnley and Sarginson, that's two more!
It's getting good is this!

Sam Panapa was top class or was he a utility player. Either way by many Wigan supporters present day standards he was hall of fame and Wane is an elite coach

In my Opinion I would say your completely wrong. Gelling is a pleasure to watch, I enjoy the are the going to stop him or is he going to power through them moments, I have seen a couple of occasions where he could have passed for a try bit hasn't but I also see the same errors from Sarge on the opposite wing. Gelling also makes some brilliant decisions as well as the brain facts. I know people hate when stats are mentioned but you don't have his current statics and be a bad player.
Name me a past Wigan centre he is better than in the modern era, say since 1985 so there is plenty of scope there and after you had said Vialiki (spelling) I think you would have to stop.
He gives 100% and makes a lot of meters but he is not a natural rugby player as was put forward in the post I replied to. Nor is he a very good centre.
He looks good against weak opposition (as do several of our players) but against the few top sides we have in SL he has yet you have a good game IMO. Certainly not when they are at full strength.

I don't have a clue what you are on about.
