Seriously anybody who thinks Micky Higham can pass a rugby ball is sadly mistaken.

Out of interest how many games has he played for Saints these last two years and how often has he been injured :doz:
Haven't been able to find his 2005 stats, but in 2004 he played 16 games - breaking his ankle in the CC semi-final meant he missed the middle of the season.

We havent brought in an average one, and I think Newtons lack of class mentally is a good enough reason to get rid of him. We will have a big enough pack next year and a faster hooker in higham is a good deal. i'd love to see newtons stats for penalities over the years id say its huge. While he can be brilliant, its just not enough and he sets a bad example for youngsters with his discipline. while theres nothing better then seeing newton sweating blood for wigans cause which he has through the years, this moves timing is about right i think. Higham can improve his distribution Lammy will see to that.
Newton is an experienced player and one of the leaders at Wigan and you dont want your leaders setting a bad example with temperment unless they are you Hagi's and Stoickovs who win games on there own and can get away with it

Pie eaters when cunningham is at his best no hooker in the world is going to displace him....so its a bit harsh to say that about higham.

Hardly....Can name a few aussies. On his day Terry was better too. Look over the past few seasons and watch the games!
A few years ago against NZ they murdered Cunningham and the runners due to him being static and their markers were mauling us. They subbed him for Terry who every play the ball took 1 step and attracted the markers enabling us to make more yards and gain an advantage.
His rugby brain is awesome and we have definatley weakened our squad next year with this move.

Agreed. I think the club are looking at Fletcher to fill that void.

Only if you believe having Newton in your side for 18 games maximum is better than Higham for 28 :conf:
