Re: Mago
Being honest, I gave up on him weeks ago so, anything positive that he manages on the pitch will be a bonus,

He's supposed to be a professional athlete.Mike wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 7:03 pmHe's supposed to be an impact prop. Why does everyone want him playing for 60 minutes, that's not his role at all. Fair enough - his last few appearances have not been good as an impact prop or anything else, but against Wire he did the job he was asked to do, IMO was effective at it and that was a big step forward. More of that please. 20-25 minutes is more than enough around half time.Wintergreen wrote: ↑Sat Apr 15, 2023 3:49 pm He's an odd one.
Seems to be able to make yards at will, yet just isn't fit enough.
You would have thought they would have him running through the plantations every day?
BTW its always struck me as odd when coaches bring on a prop after 20 mins, they play til half time and then are replaced after the break, then come back on later. Surely you save a whole substitution if you use the HT break as their rest. Maybe its just not long enough for true recovery - I'm not a physio?
20 mins from someone who's JOB it is to play rugby is a joke imo, and not a funny one at that.

Not if his job is only to put in those 20 minutesWintergreen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:02 pmHe's supposed to be a professional athlete.Mike wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 7:03 pmHe's supposed to be an impact prop. regardless of how he plays for the rest of the season though I would let him go unless he can be swapped before season end

Pro athlete Usain Bolt only managed 10 seconds. Sometimes not even that!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:02 pmHe's supposed to be a professional athlete.Mike wrote: ↑Mon Apr 17, 2023 7:03 pmHe's supposed to be an impact prop. Seriously though. His *ROLE* is to be an impact prop off the bench. His body type is different to a 60 minute prop. If you want him to be a 60 minute prop he won't be a good one.

Re: Mago
Complaining Mago isnt a 60min player is like complaining Jai Field cant play prop.
The measure of success for Mago is not how many minutes he plays its what he does with the minutes he does play

He's far from perfect, but I've never understood the anti-Mago bandwagon.

Well we'll have to agree to disagree.
20 mins for a rugby league player is laughable (imo ofc
)
I understand what you are saying about his role. In that case I would be questioning the coach.
However, conceding on this and assuming it is ok to have a "20 minute impact prop", then I would expect him to be working his arris off in the gym, emphasis on anaerobic training and coming in with a lot of muscle to show the effort.
Instead he comes in with his body shape. What does he do in training then? Seemingly it's not aerobic, seemingly it's not anaerobic. I would love to know what he actually does "fitness wise".

Re: Mago
I do understand where youre coming from but again body shape is a really poor indicator of aerobic fitness i mean no-one would believe Tyson Fury is about 20 times fitter than Anthony Joshua but he isWintergreen wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 6:39 pm Well we'll have to agree to disagree.

Strongmen havent got ripped physiques they build on fast twitch muscle groups and bursts of strength
i think where we agree is that he has to do more while he is on the pitch
