Times they are a changing. It wouldn’t be possible if Mike Danson didn’t own the lot. Many said that there would be no changes until he officially acquired Wigan Warriors, clearly he already does.
nit picking but:

The owner of the stadium putting joint branding up doesn't say he's already 100% owner. We have wigan RL pictures on the walls inside while only tenants.

Also
Hi IL as the owner of WAFC and major shareholders in WWRL I want do do X,Y,Z as the majority shareholder do you have an issue.

No great.

What would be nice is for it no longer to be called the DW. The company went bust so the only person benefitting is Dave Whelans ego.
To be equally nit picking if Danson didn't own Latics it wouldn't be happening at all regardless of what % he currently owns of Wigan RL. The previous owners of Latics and therefore the ground made it quite clear it was to be seen as a football ground with no joint branding at all and there was nothing IL could do about it. Make no mistake the joint branding is down to Danson and the fact he owns 100% of Latics and 49% of Wigan RL (so I believe).

It's a pity when Dave Whelan sold up Danson wasn't around to buy both football and soccer club back then. It's always been a mistake to think of IL as a rich owner. Wealth-wise he just isn't in the same league as Dave Whelan was nor Simon Moran at Warrington and certainly not Danson.

As to what Latics fans think of it, there will some who will never be happy and it wouldn't surprise me if some of them with the biggest chip on their shoulder weren't even born when Maurice Lindsay knocked back a request for a joint celebration when Latics won a cup when they were non-league side or supposedly made some patronising comment on TV about them. Even though he's had nothing to do with Wigan RL for years and is in fact dead they still whine about it!

Mike Danson did own 49% at the time of the last AGM, he owns the majority share now. You are right though none of this could, or would, have happened if MD did not own the football club. The Latics fans better get use to working off a realistic budget their future is their youth setup.
