For the record, other losers we have signed from lower league teams in the fairly recent past are Terry O'Connor, Neil Cowie & Jason Robinson.

The only Welsh international who Wigan should be interested in signing would be Gavin Henson.
We signed Jason when Leeds RLFC let him go from their academy side in the good old days when we knew what we were doing.

Well Cas (on 6 points!) did not think he was good enough to retain for Superleague and they had a season long look at him. Stop deluding yourselves.

Wigan and the Welsh have been very very lucky in the past a certain Billy Boston springs to mind and a another Ashton . May be just May Be !!!!!!!

give him a chance! he comes to wigan with no reputation and no expectations. all i want the lad to do is his best and if its good enough everyone is happy if its not good enough well he had his shot at bigtime.the alternative is to take a youngster out of the acadamy and hope he can play a bit.

Hang the guy before we even see him. Were in a tight spot at the moment and we need a stronger squad. This guy may not be Solomona. Then again it might make him as a player just judge him on what we see and not what we hear.

I wasn't pre-judging him and I am pretty sure Geoff wasn't either. We were both commenting on a less than positive statement to the press which came across as "We went for Solomoa and ended up with this player instead". A poor way to welcome a new player IMO.

On Radio Manc Millward said he is in the squad for tomorrow.

Some of the emails to the program were great for conspiracy theorists in that apparently the reason we signed this guy is to swap him for a Whitehaven player. That player beijng none other than Mason who would secure his exit from Cas (and Saints) to 'Haven and then onto us. A Newton-Higham deal all over again.

That really did make me laugh!

Maybe it is me but I think rugby league pre salary cap was far more dynamic and newsworthy. We have a situation in Aus where the NRL are basically resigned to losing Gasnier to Union and the club concerned are powerless to do anything about it. Likewise, we faced a similar situation previously.

Moreover, when teams hit trouble be it form, be it injuries or a new coach they could bring players in. there was a flow of money between clubs too.

I suppose I hark back to a time that will prrobably never return but I hate the cap and everything that surrounds it. Ah well

We have fended off bids for players pre-salary cap when the ARL/SL war was on. Cost the club a lot of money but it is an interesting thought that the salary cap in Aus is basically responsible for the loss of a star player to another sport.

Personally I hate the 20/20 more than the cap. I don't think we have lost that many players to RU and few if any in their prime like Gasnier.

The funny thing is in RL in this country is that fans of other clubs (especially Saints) see any questioning of the cap by a Wigan fan as a reason to come out and say how wonderful it is without making an objective judgement one way or the other.
