I agree with Andy on his points, so won't go over them again. But on the goal-kicking front, I think people assume Leuluai is not a kicker, and he is: 24 goals from 22 appearances for the NZ Warriors in 2003-4.

That was the year, incidently, he was credited with winning the game for the Kiwis v the Aussies in the Tarnstasman test match.

His last year may have been hit by injury, and London may have decided not to overburden him with kicking duties, but that doesnt mean he isn't a good player, nor that he can't kick. He is, and he can.

It has come to light that Danny Orr did not feel part of the set up at Wigan and felt he was not a valued player. He is said to be delighted with the move as they have welcomed him with open arms.

Coming back to Orr; a slightly different slant on things in the WEP article
http://www.wiganonline.co.uk/ViewArticl ... ID=1822071
Could be just spin, of course, but:

Lindsay said: "Danny does have a year left of his contract with us, but we have been unable to offer him the longer extension that he wanted.
Danny has been given the benefit of longer-term security by the deal he has struck with Harlequins"

Orr - a former Castleford player - admitted that the move to the capital has provided him with food for thought.
He said: "I have thought long and hard about this move to Harlequins.
"But when I went to meet Brian McDermott and Tony Rea, they made me feel very welcome and part of some very ambitious plans for the future.
"I liked what I saw and I went away feeling excited to be joining a club that is going places."

Maybe more of a two-way decision than has been suggested.

I think if you are told you are not part of the set up then you will look elsewhere. I get the impression from those words he harbours some bitterness toward the way he was treated here and givemn the effort he put in I can't say I'd blame him.

If he had been as lathargic as some of our other players who are still here I could understand it but even early in the season he was making a better job of being a captain than Lockers.

At the end of the day the way Orr played last season is a big reason why we are still in SL.

To the poster who suggested the squad we had could not have raised its game to get into the GF I think you will find most people were optomistic that on paper we had a squad capable of competing with the best lon 2006.

It is now old news the effect Millard had on the team (disasterous) but it should not be forgotten and for me that means Noble got it playing to its potential not above itself to an unsustainable degree. Had Noble been here from day one of the 2006 season I think we would have made the top six with ease.

We also won 10 out of the 12 last games. There is an interview with Nobke reflecting on the season and it was 16 weeks of effort - half a season.

To quote Noble: "I am proud of the way my players applied themselves for what was a long period of time. It was four months, because when I came here we couldn't win a game for the first month and while four or five teams had that pressure but this particular team had 16 weeks of it. "

A flash in the pan side could not have done that and the win v Leeds showed great character given the club had just got docked two points.

In that game one of the best players showing a great attitude was of course Danny Orr and he is the epitomy of the attitude Noble mentions above. My concern with Lulu is at the moment he is being viewed on how he played neearly two season ago not how he has played recenrly and there is a disctinct danger we will replace Orr with all the attributes we have seen from him with Moran MkII.

I think that Mo is covering himself ready for a backlash from the fans - and his old mate the salary cap means he has a purpose built reason for any player leaving.

All of the reports that I heard said that Danny Orr wanted to stay.

It was the club that said other teams could talk to him. Short of making him wear a shirt that said "For Sale" on it; it couldn't have been clearer that he wasn't wanted.

What I can't understand is that we've done this for several players that should have been retained but have not done it for DV - why? Surely it can't hurt for everyone (including him) to know that he is surplus to requirements?

Agree 100% and it makes me angry to see how the club have repaid his effort.

We almost made the top six after giving everyone else a 16 game start - does anyone believe that we wouldn't have finished in the top 3 if Noble had been in charge from day one?

You're not the only one thinking that. I think that Mo signed him hoping he would be Lam MkII - however there is a very real possibility he could turn out to be Moran MkII; someone had better phone Widnes to make sure that they can take him if it doesn't work out!

At the end of the day he can't make an impact if he is on the bench injured for most of the season.

Interviewer: So that obviously means that you're not going to St Helens and you're not going to Leeds?

Frano: I don't know why I would ever want to go to St Helens or Leeds

The singings for next year are worrying me a little. In the next few weeks we have to see some people being signed. At the minute people seem to be leaving but no one is replacing them. When they are being replaced, they are IMO being replaced by lesser or the same standard player. I hope letting Orr go does not come back to haunt us (although i have a feeling it will). Good luck Danny!

All i can say is if we agree or don't we have to put our trust in Nobby. Lets just hope he has made the right decisions!
Cant see any new signings coming than we already know.
Changes from last season in the 20/20 .
OUT
1 Kris Radlinski replaced by Chris Ashton/Withers
5 Bret Dallas Richards to wing Bailey to centre
7 Kevin Moran Leu Leu???
8 Scot Logan Replaced by Stuart Fielden
14 Kevin Brown replaced by Mc Avoy
15 Danny Tickle Replaced by Danny Hill
16 Bryn Hargreaves replaced by Prescott??
17 Jerry Seu Seu out of qouta when Fielden signed
18 Wayne Godwin Millard????
20 Danny Sculthorpe never in qouta on loan

Danny Orr leaving today should make Chris Ashton come into the 20

We have not replaced Logan with Fielden as they were playing for the club at the same time. We do need to replace Logan.
14 Kevin Brown replaced by Mc Avoy
15 Danny Tickle Replaced by Danny Hill
Same with Hill/Tickle. He was here while Tickle was here. We have released one of the two players we had there.
16 Bryn Hargreaves replaced by Prescott??
Err. no, they were both Wigan players at the same time. We have not replaced Hargreaves.
17 Jerry Seu Seu out of qouta when Fielden signed
Seems like on your list Fielden has replaced two players. Some may say as an 80 mins prop he has!
Danny Orr leaving today should make Chris Ashton come into the 20
That was supposed to happen when Brown left. Brown was in the 20. If Mccavoy is a 20/25 player I give up.

Your missing my point i am just saying who i think will be the 20/25 players this season i know Fielden /MCavoy/Hill were already playing last season and Ashton was playing full back i was just emphasising the players released/retired etc these were their numbers .Fielden will take the no 8 shirt not replacing Logan .
Danny Orr has been replaced by Trent Barratt.
The players numbers listed were from last year and have already gone/released im not thick i do know what players were here last year ie Prescott replacing Hargreaves who has been released by the club .The point i am trying to make unless we release D/V and Richards the squad is in place for next season although there would still be one place for a forward.
Jerry Se Seu had to go last year so that Fielden could play .So in theory Fielden has replaced 2 players .
Withers would be a better signing to replace Mc Avoy at least between Withers and Ashton there would more cover for Fullback/Centre/Wing
