It is now time for Corbyn to resign as leader of the Labour party after being unsuccessful at winning the General Election :exc:

I do but it is my choice but only because if I didn't my pension would be utterly crap. The fact I do this though is no justification for attacks on pensions for the likes of you and my wife in the sate sector. The problem is not imaginary gold plated state pensions but the fact we offer one of the lowest state pension in western europe.
Good on you DaveO unfortunately many people believe in the gold plated super state pension and don't realise our pensions are generally lower than most in Western Europe and in my experience the people who attack my pension are usually not paying anything like 11% of their income into a pension scheme

what i do find interesting (and yes i understand its how our voting system works) is that the Conservs only recieved 2.4% more of the vote than labour, importantly this was 57 more seats.

seats show a conserv leaning in the UK but voting shows the country is near enough split down the middle between conservs and labour.
I have not looked at the results in detail but I did notice at least one ion Scotland where the Tories took the seat off the SNP but the combined Labour and SNP vote was way ahead of the winning Tory vote.

The opposition (to the Tory) vote was split to the Tories benefit.

This reminded me very much of the time when the SDP party of David Own & Shirley Williams spit the opposition vote and gave Thatcher a thumping majority.

Another interesting one is Hastings where Amber Rudd nearly lost to Labour and I bet there are more than a few Lib Dem voters kicking themselves this morning for not lending their vote to Labour.

would you say the same for May? who went from having a overwhelming majority in polls to losing the majority and in the process made people listen and engage in Corybn which caused a surge in labour votes?

You wish. Labours so called liability turned out to be their biggest asset and made the Tories "strong and stable" leader look weak and feeble.

What do you think of the Tories new alliance with a party with links to paramilitaries? The DUP? You know the party that opposed the Good Friday agreement?

My son,who has spent a bit of time with Corbyn said I'd be wrong,he felt he has an aura about him and if you listened to him live you got what he was about,it's clear my lad was right,ok they didn't win the election but it proved to me that there may be a future for left wing policies in the future, the fact that she has to be propped up by the dup is shambolic.

May will quietly go within the next 12 months or so,she is unelectable as she's unlikeable,no way will she fight the next election as Tory leader.

As an afterthought Neil Kinnock led Labour, and failed, in two General Elections if I remember correctly Mr Medlocke.
The plus side with Corbyn is he has morals, whereas the Tories are bankrupt in that department, and have been for at least my lifetime.

Not much of a grasp of Northern Irish politics then?

I am not referring to the hypocrisy of the Tories allying themselves with a party linked to terrorists and who opposed the Good Friday agreement but what it means for the chances of the power sharing that goes on there.

Specifically the UK government is always neutral when it comes to dealing with both sides and is so then it can facilitate brokering a deal to get stormont up and running again for example. It can't do that if it allies itself with one side to the extent it is dependent upon it to remain in government in Westminster.

May is clearly prepared to jeopardize the political process in N.I. to cling to power.

John Major never went into an agreement like this with the Unionists because he had the brains to understand it would jeopardise the peace process. May has clearly no scruples or is just too thick to realise what she is doing here.

Just who do you think you are you patronising Engineer qua mechanic. Also what do you know about morals in general and Corbyn's in particular in contrast to disparaging all Tories.
