Think the reason we gave Phelps another year was Roberts was only available for 2010 season originally ,he then became available for this one . I also think we thought Wiki would be coming ,when he decided not too it left us a bit of a headache.cherrywarrior wrote:Hmm Let me guess what the first question will be at the Fans Forum next week... something along the lines of "What the bloody hell is going on"
If we were trying to get rid of Cameron why did we give him another contract at the end of last season?!

You would think not, wouldn't you? Knowing this government though, it wouldn't surprise me if we do get Bird, It would just about sum up how there seems to be a rule for one and one for another.DaveO wrote:What chance Bird getting a visa given this news?

If we did sign him I think any Huddersfield fan and any other fans, come to mention it. Would be extremely quick to jump on the backs of Wigan RL as though it is our fault. Wehn, in fact, it isn't our fault at all, it is the powers that be.
I'm rambling now
Re: Latest On Greg Bird
His case is not the same ''Carney'' as several previous convictions drink related and a jail sentence hanging over him. Bird has not been found guilty before or yet so can travel freely ,he has just returned from the USA and may be given a temporary visa , I would hope he would only come after he is found innocent ie the club don't cock up leaving us with a decent player not overly paid .Sutty wrote:You would think not, wouldn't you? I'm rambling now. To conclude, no, I don't think we will be allowed to sign him.

Phelps is quoted in this week's Reporter as saying he doesn't want to leave Wigan.

Leigh is just a small town in Wigan though...GeoffN wrote:Phelps is quoted in this week's Reporter as saying he doesn't want to leave Wigan.

Good point! He could insist the club honour his contract though (or pay him off, which amounts to the same thing; it would still count as cap money).Mike wrote:Leigh is just a small town in Wigan though...GeoffN wrote:Phelps is quoted in this week's Reporter as saying he doesn't want to leave Wigan.

Why is Bird a problem child he has not been found guilty of anything yet AND IS A GOOD STANDOFF so can't see why you would not want him here.

from the looks of things were getting him and phelps is going the other way. bird was playing 6 for NSW last season so he must be good. only really seen play once or twice and to be honest he didnt look a superstar but still very good...10x more than smith anyway.
