RJ wrote: In my experience most people respond better to encouragement rather than criticism.

That being the case why has Noble not gone yet when there has been bags of encouragement on here for ages?
It would be interesting to know just how many other really good young players we have waiting in the wings for someone to get crocked before Numpty gives them a chance.
The bit in bold RJ is what I am trying to get accross, that Ainscough would and probably will respond better to encouragement like a pat on the back, and maybe a "well done son, you did well out there today", and not the "he's not the fiinished article" and "he's still got stuff to work on rubbish".

Its like he is bitter that ainsy is showing him up basically showing him that he is wrong!
That is exactly what it seems like to me. Ainscough, doesn't need to be reminded that "you let that try in", "you should have done that better, "you could have done this better", etc, which is exactly what Noble seems to be doing to him, despite Ainscough scoring four times.

No signs of a pat on the back as far as I am concerned there.

The poster that also said Noble made a mess with Ashton is absolutely correct as well, and yes, I also agree that AInscough has the same temperament and attitude as Ashton, and Ainscough maybe a tad faster?

did you even read the article?

also people jumping on nobles work in progress quote, it's probable a reported asked him 'how good can ainscough be', and his response would be completely reasonable to a question smilar to this. even tiger woods refers to himself as a 'work in progress'!

as to no mention of other players mistakes, when a brilliant 19 year old rookie scores 4 tries, they wouldn't ak him about aything else!
I agree, Yoda.

Noble would have been responding to a specific question from some reporter or other along the lines of...'a terrific game for Shaun Ainscough, Brian, but aren't you worried about his defence?'

If that had been the question, his reported response would, in my opinion, have been perfectly reasonable and responsible. If the interview had been televised, you would have heard the question but this mode of 'reporting' does not include the question and gives the impression that Noble has sought out the first reporter he sees after the match and volunteered that particular quote.

You may gather from these views that I hold the press in something approaching contempt, primarily because (generally speaking) they have no compunction in misrepresenting comments made in good faith and thereby damaging reputations.

I don't intend this to appear as supporting Brian Noble (as I think he has reached the end of the road at Wigan) but to illustrate the fact that supposed 'quotes' are not always what they seem.

Or it could have been Ainscough had a brilliant game? Most of the press questions from RL reporters ten to be very open ended and even if it was not it is up to Brian Noble to answer it, he controls his own response.

While i accept your point A&L and Yoda and hold the media in an equally dimm light i think that Noble is part to blame.

Take away the work in progress quote that batted about and look for a second at this one.

"He has got superb prowess. He is strong, quick and knows how to finish but there are other parts of his game he needs to improve."

The bit in bold he didn't need to say surely, especailly not straight after the game, that should be a personal talk between him and ainsy on the training pitch. If he is going to say something like that why not tag on " but there is room for improvement across the park"

Like i have said it seems Noble is a fave's man and im worried that ainsy isn't one. Mickey Higham got treated awfully by the club in the press, the fact they went public telling him to play for a contract that wasn't there was one of the lowest points of my support of Wigan. Feilden, Bailey, Phelps and Riddell are all members of the Nobbys fave group and they get protected to the hilt! Feilden hasn't had to earn his place in the team since he got here, yet ainsy is dropped after being in sensational form.

A lot of people compare ainsy to j.robinson, probably the only really succesful convert to RU in the modern era if the yawnion lot get a whiff of this kid we could be in trouble!

Not in this camp we won't.Staying loyal to the Get rid of Numpty. The man is more of a liability with each passing day. What will he come out with next?ie we can still win the title etc.I am often left gob smacked with the utter stupidity of this clown.Similar thread No party for Nobby. Will be in my house when he goes.

far too much has been made of this comment.

I totally agree Wigan_forever19 85 with your point. He didn't need to say the point you have highlighted in bold in public, and mroe to the point, I (in my personal own opinion) strognyl believe that he shouldn't have done.

As you also correctly say Wigan_Forever19 85, Ainscough gets dropped after being in sensational form, all right, it was only a week, but he has now missed a match in the season for what, nothing, because he is not Noble's lovechild? Who knows? The point is he shouldn't have been dropped.

Your other point, about you being worried about Ainscough not being in Noble's favourites, and yes, I am worried as well.

But I do, very strongly disagree with highlighting Ainscough's mistakes in the public light.

i go back to one of my recent posts regarding young Shaun,

he will make mistakes everyone of us knows that he will only get better as time goes on and that means match play time

he will always be targeted with the high ball kick out wide but there are ways to make him more profficient ( ie better timing)

let the lad get on with his natural game

and lets get NOBEL out

I am starting to wonder if Noble has just got into the habit of every time Ainscough is mentioned he feels he must add in the qualification about him learning the game, not the finished article or whatever.
