That is a valid point IMO. Even if it's 1 + 4 more years as an option it's still far from the normal type of contract given out for a player of his age. I'd expect 3 years max for a player in their mid to late twenties and for someone coming back from a ban less than that.
WIGAN are set to agree a long-term contract with drugs cheat Gareth Hock once his ban ends.
Forward Hock, 26, is under a two-year suspension after testing positive for cocaine last June.
But a deal, believed to be for up to five years, is on the table provided the former England international can stay clean.
Hock has been training by himself, using his father Damien's gym, doing regular boxing sessions with former rugby league player Jeff Dean and running near his home.
A formal announcement is expected by the end of the month.
Just like I said "HOCK SIGNS 5 YEAR CONTRACT" even though people denied it on here. I would have thought that the club would be pleased to announce the 5 year deal to sell a few season tickets with Hock in the bag.

So its true because the Sun says so then, great basis for truth, you'll be quoting wikipedia next lol (only kidding by the way)
Gareth Thomas before his first game: "You wanna spend 10 mins getting smashed up by these guys..Big dudes here.."
The Sun Researchers are the worst in the world all they have done is get it off this website and put it in their paper. for once 'The Sun' do some proper journalism

I just hope Gaz Hock keeps this training up to keep his mind active.
From what I understand, he hasnt been the best trainer on Wigan's books.
When fully focused, the best second rower in SL, and one of the best in Rugby League.
To this I can understand Wigan signing him in front of all the bad media publicity.
Lets just hope he can stay focused.
Not having all this good ethics bull i keep being told.
were will that be when wire, saints ,leeds and every other SL side is begging him to sign for them..(and dont worry one as already be on his case)
As a club we'll have suffered enough not having a talent like that playing for us..why should be watch him rip us apart for someone else if we dont sign him.
