I think the flags are a great idea, with a lot of time, money and effort put into it by the folk involed. I too am a bit concerned about the flares as not only are the illegal but what we dont want is the loyal wigan fans getting a bad name or the club getting into any bother. We are the greatest club in the world and as has been shown with the flags and vocal support away from home, we have the greatest fans in the world too.
Keep up the good work

The problem is the south stand is an unreserved spec, if you want to see the lads warm up look for a better seat. I sit about half way up in the middle and the flags are no problem, can see the lads warm up and get to see a bit of atmosphere being created.
Alot of people don't understand the reason for having the brigantes as they now call themselves and it is not a clique at all, far from it. They have open meetings where people can go along and express their views. If you don't express your views to them your going to see no change.
Wasn't at Hull KR so can't comment on the flare but alot of people inside the brigantes don't condone the setting off the flares. It's their reputation after all and they have built up great relationships with the club.
Just remember at old trafford when all the flags attended and where at the front of the east stand and the large WE ARE WIGAN flag was at the back. That created an atmosphere and provided our end with a bit of colour, I'd rather see a bit of colour at the games and an improved atmosphere. Let's face it, the flags have brought a home feel to the DW which was non existant before.
As several people have already pointed out in this thread, the atmosphere at huddersfield created by the brigantes was nothing short of brilliant.

Not been around but how odd. You post on RLfans plenty Meds as Baked Bean Boogie etc and Geoff is a moderator here and part of this so called clique.
I have had run ins with 2 people from RLfans but plenty of decent folk there too, who outweigh the silly ones. I just do not like how the away fans sabotage/ruin threads.

I like the way Josie organises the player sponsorship here. I think that is a fabulous iniative.
I also think the Brigantes is a fabulous iniative and the best thing ever done on RLfans. To create so so many banners to adorn a cold concrete stadia was nothing short of amazing in such a short time. The banners are quality, varied and stylish in message / tone. The big flags are similarly wonderful. If they have added fireworks / flares more power to them. The effort in terms of creating the banners/funding/purchasing but also putting them up (as a nancy boy where heights are concerned I would not be doing it) is so commendable.
Geoff is involved and he is hardly likely to be part of anything silly or sinister. Rogues is retired and close to pensionable age. I have read people welcomed warmly despite being total strangers to meetings etc.
I find it hard to comprehend. Indeed churlish to attack something so positive. What next a campaign to ban Josie from releasing baloons etc.

I never suggested no one liked it,

It was
not a flare, it was a smoke bomb, big difference (although IMO neither is acceptable), and Rogue is well past retirement age (he's 109).As someone else has stated on here, if anyone has a problem with the flags please try and attend one of our meetings and make your grievances known ,we are a friendly bunch who are just trying to improve the atmosphere at home games and attempting to make the DW seem more like home, plus its a laugh and a few pints of good ale.Next meeting possibly next week, sure someone will post the time/date, all welcome.

Yep, bad for the environment and I actively campaign against releasing balloons into the air (1 balloon is enough to kill a turtle in the sea).
Maybe i've been a bit harsh over the weekend. I understand what the guys are trying to do, making the place more welcoming to the players is great, i'm just not sure that there isn't a better, less obtusive way of doing things...
I, for one, have come up with an awesome idea, which sadly is nigh on impossible, and costly, but would make most visitors crap themselves, and make the players feel totally elated... Kinda doesnt work too well on the summer games though.

There you go Medlocke (Baked Bean Boogie) and Co, an open invite to the next meeting.
I personally think the venues are chosen according to the quality of beer being offered if Geoff/Rogues are involved. Any excuse for a night out from the Care Home those two

The meetings are held in
The Anvil pub, best ale in Wigan !! (I'm sure Geoff will confirm this.)
