The most disappointing thing about Wigan for me this year is at times they look lost. We seem to play one up football - and considering the size of our pack that is a pretty poor tactic. Yes we could have won the wakefield game, however we could have also lost the salford and widnes games.
I really like Dennis - he was an excellent player for us and always comes across as a good bloke; however his coaching is questionable at best. OK we've struggled with injuries and had to intergrate new players - however that should have meant losing close games to Bradford (which we did), Leeds etc - not getting put to sword to an imported new London squad.
We do have young players, but some of them have been in the squad for more than a year, so they should be used to the speed and intensity of SL. Some of them are just not as good as we had hoped - not wishing to open up old wounds, but we would have been better off keeping Robinson at the expense of Wild, Aspinwall, Brown etc.
Realisitically I expect us to bash Leigh on Friday - everyone else has; Unfortunately I suspect the Saints game may well spoil my bank holiday weekend. Either way unless there is a dramatic improvement I expect Dennis to be looking for employment within a month or so.
As has been stated above, all of the previous coaches have been removed when Wigan were in a far higher place in the table than we are now. 2 wins from 5 games is just not good enough for my beloved Wigan, if this had happened at any other of the "big 4" clubs then the coach would be on his way.
I am not a master RL tactician, nor would I claim to be, however that is what the team badly needs and sadly it is not Dennis. Recruiting a top coach and some decent players from somewhere - anywhere MUST be our top priority
COME ON WIGAN!
