If we signed him to a long term deal now and then lost the big games again this year I'd imagine there would be many posters on here wishing that he had gone to NZ. Just sayin....
We are waltzing to the top of the league. Stains with their Aussie coach are in a Square Tango with 3 other teams for 8th spot. Who would you replace Wane with?

I wasn't suggesting that I'd replace Wane with anyone but simply pointing out that todays anxiety is that Wane could walk to NZ but if our season finished like last year then the anxiety would be we've got the wrong man for the job. The reality is we won't really know until the big games towards back end of the season. For the record I hope we do win the big games and that Wane and the team continue doing the great job they are currently doing.

New Zealand sport media reports :

Tomkins has been NZ Warriors No 1 target for some time.

Tomkins' decision on whether to join the Warriors next season has a huge bearing on the remainder of the club's recruitment strategy, including whether hooker Nathan Friend has a future at Mt Smart Stadium.

The Warriors remain hopeful Tomkins will sign and it's hard to see Friend having a future at the club if that happens. It would see an increasingly congested picture at fullback, which would have a flow-on effect to the halves and hooker.

Yesterday, the club confirmed the signing of Cronulla half Chad Townsend, which was helped by the immediate release of Harry Siejka, and Kevin Locke would also come into the mix.

Thomas Leuluai, who has played five-eighth all season, is likely to shift into hooker alongside Pita Godinet meaning Friend probably wouldn't be needed or afforded.

Having spoken to a NZ based journo the talk is of a $1 million fee for Sam. But as yet he has not signed.

And he never will, he'll be another Lockers and spend his entire career at Wigan.

Well I can dream! :(

To be fair Lockers would not have been had we got relegated. We owe Whelan/Lindsay/Noble a great debt for pushing the boundary of the cap in order to maintain our SL status.

Some fans of NZW argue that the spine of there team would be improved if Sam signed :

Without Tomkins ~

1) Locke
6) Johnson
7) Townsend
9) Leuluai

With Tomkins ~

1) Tomkins
6) Locke
7) Johnson
9) Leuluai

Despite them having 2 good FB's currently with Locke much improved this season. So much pace and footwork with option 2.
But any transfer fee will have to be included in the salary cap.
