If we kick the penalty and then they kick off short and get the ball back its a free 50 meters for 2 points which gives us a 3 point margin and they would get 1 or maybe 2 full sets.jaws1 wrote:Don't know why we did not take the penalty at the end? On the other It was a converted penalty that saved us the game I honestly don't know when 2 points are gettable that we don't go for them instead of trying to run the ball out. If I can remember right we had a penalty in front of the sticks at WIDNES and we did not go for it we made a draw converted penalty we would have won.
It always amazes me that people never give any credit to the opposition. It is always about what wigan do or fail to do, and never about what the other side get right.sc74 wrote:
No, I was hoping for about 30 points on them, done it a convincing fashion.
Scraping past bottom of the league, at home, by a point? Really?
Really, Hull are not a bad side?i'm spartacus wrote:It always amazes me that people never give any credit to the opposition. It is always about what wigan do or fail to do, and never about what the other side get right.sc74 wrote:

We aren't hitting anything like any sort of consistent form, but Hull are not a bad side, and apart from the second half collapse against Leeds, they have been competing and defending well enough. They have had a lot less points scored against them than four of the teams above them, including us and I think the deserve a great deal of credit for spending almost the entire second half defending their own line and limiting us to a single point. A lot has to said of our defensive frailty in that they only had about 3 or 4 points were we under threat in the second half, and they scored twice.
This season is different than the preceding seasons. There are fewer teams, and the better players from the teams that left have mostly been absorbed by the teams that are still in. In theory it should be much harder to run up cricket scores against sub standard opposition. I think our problems lie in our predictability, and a five eighth trying to find his feet in his new roll.
I do not think many people believe Hull are a good RL team.i'm spartacus wrote:It always amazes me that people never give any credit to the opposition. It is always about what wigan do or fail to do, and never about what the other side get right.sc74 wrote:

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane:
"We could have been a lot more convincing. If we had been more clinical in that final third, we could have won by 20 points, but we created the chances and we are going in the right direction.
"That was a must-win game for us. It's been an awful week, I asked for a response and I got one because they defended better.
So IMO it is wrong to pretend Hull did anything but try hard when both coaches state the winning margin for Wigan should have been a lot greater. Personally, at home I expected Wigan to come out all guns blazing after the previous debacle. I expected a Wigan tea to win by 30 and that IMO is realistic. Hull like the majority of SL clubs are mediocre.[/u]Hull FC coach Lee Radford:
"It is frustrating to lose but there are positives because I thought we were outstanding.
"We had every right to lose by more than one point regarding territory and field position as we had very little throughout the game - so to hang on like we did is a credit to us.
Great question, well done.TrueBlueWarrior wrote:Just a question for sc74, have you ever posted anything positive?
