Seasons end is nearing it would be a crying shame to lose the forum.

I was aware he has died Dave, not the cause. I think he came on here prior to his death and IIRC became friends with Josie.

I became close friends with George & his wife, me & Irene are still in constant contact. I was devastated when Irene told me of his death, we'd been chatting online in the early hours of the morning of the Grand Final. He said he was already set up with everything to watch the game. He did manage to see the game.he died the next day ????????

George was a very good man. IIRC, his site might have preceeded Mikes. A lot of sites got swallowed by RLfans. Ironically, many supporters are moving away from RLfans and forming individual foruns akin to this.

Back in the day when George had his forum; George, Nitsua (Austin backwards - nice lady who lives in Ireland and comes on here occasionally and PEAPOI were the big characters. George has to deal with the Cockney Latic/anti Wigan RL hatred at its height. Wigan IIRC briefly had their own forum but it was closed down after Latics nutters spammed it with pornographic images, a parrot one being a great example of sick stupidity

Great news Josie! Thanks Mike for your efforts over the years. I stopped posting on RLFANS a few years ago but always enjoy this one.

As a member living in Plymouth I have relied upon this forum to keep me in touch with all that goes on with my team for some years. I for one would be willing to pay a small annual fee to see the site continue, if only for this section (although I do read it all). Yes, we get some silly comments, but if you love Wigan Warriors then we should be able to live with them.

I've lurked for years before plucking up courage to join a few months back,it was and has been the first place i go to for discussion when news has been announced (and when it hasnt of course )it would have been a crying shame if it had gone to the wall as Rlfans can be a bit of a madhouse.

Yes Georges forum preceded this one and was possibly the first Wigan one of the lot. Prior to that discussing RL on line was via Usenet or nothing.

The Wigan forum had was another fan forum that they got the guy who ran it to run it for them as the official one. It then got spammed and as you say closed down. I forget the name of the guy who rant it but it was the then Wigan marketing manager who got him to agree to make it the official forum.
