Bentham and the idiot on the touch line were very poor and both Widnes tries should have been disallowed (off-side and forward pass). Bentham let Widnes get away with murder at the play the ball in the first half and more than two Widnes players should have been given the bin considering the number of high tackles.

That said, Wigan were really poor and had very little going for them in attack, as has been the case all season. John Winder said in the SS bar after the match that they thought they had Widnes on the rack and could get the win which is why the players were told to go for the tap. Given our inability to break down defences all season and us showing very little sign of breaking the line in this match what on earth led the coaching staff to that conclusion? Surely the correct decision should have been to take the two, draw level and then go for the win, especially when there was very little time left on the clock.

Finally to George Williams. He went off for a head check, came back on at the start of the second half and was violently sick. I am not a medic but I am a first aider and one of the things I was taught was that if someone receives a knock to the head and is subsequently sick you should get them to hospital. Why was Williams allowed to play on? Surely the club has a duty of care to the lad? Were the medical staff over ruled by the coaching staff?

Doc I am not even sure George is fully fit. DT highlighted an injury issue that the club seem happy to manager as long as he gets out on the pitch and flogs himself.

The coaching staff told the players to run the ball, I just don't believe it!

He's nowhere near fit, a ball running halfback needs players providing decoys.

captinjack wrote:A terrible display tonight, one or two, TT and Bateman, did better than the rest, but only just. Tomkins is a lame duck, I think IFL was conned into bringing him back, he needs to be on his way as soon as possible, be away before the start on next season. It will be very doubtful if I renew my season ticket until changes are made, a new coach, an attack coach and some experienced Aussie players is what is needed.

As for Bentham he has always been incompetent, and he just enforced his status with his display tonight, assisted by the Chuckle Brother and the other tosser running the line. He give Widnes a team warning a good half an hour after they should have been given one, and then gave them another two, two players sinned binned, the second should have been shown a red card.

Widnes played awful tonight, but not as bad as us. I think that display tonight put the tin hat on it for this season. Hull will have an easy passage against us, and the same can be said of Warrington. The only word for that display is Shite.

If any of the coaching staff from the club read this thread, which I don't think they will, they should publicly apologise to the fans for that display prior to putting in their resignations.
Prop forwards need to run straight, if our guys were in the NRL they would be dropped with immediate effect. Wane has got to go for the benefit of the club. We shall see if the powers that be have the balls to make the right decision.

Smith would have made a big difference tonight imo.
Smith is too slow.

Yes.
For that alone Wane should go.

He is but we would have been better with him than without.
