Outplayed today, very sloppy from us and Catalans did the basics spot on.
Nobody seems to have mentioned Bateman? I feel like he’s stealing a living at the moment, shadow of his former self since he’s been back.
Also Byrne and smithies are not good enough, I couldn’t care a less if they’ve come through the academy.
Smithies made our only break and, in my view, was our best forward. Singleton needs to try and run through the line rather than stopping at it.
Bibby also made one but had no support
Yes you are correct. I should have said the only break by our forwards.
Interestingly, the Catalans wingers made 371 metres compared to Hardaker and Marshall who made 119. Their centres ran for 190m, whilst Bibby made 38 and KPP 95. Collectively, the team need to make more ground not just the forwards. Personally, I would have KPP in my pack and Havard is a must when he returns from injury.
If anyone is interested these are the other players statistics (metres made):

Chance to change it for Thursday as field and Bateman will be banned.
What for?? I thought it would be Ellis!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
Am interested to see the metres made stat. This was a wet weather game where passing and handling were difficult: some teams would have been set up to make ground from dummy half.
the worry re: bans is if anyone was 3rd man in and threw a punch as that's a 8 match ban now i believe
I dont think anyones being too alarmist - every team have off days but i would of thought coming into this match Wigan would have been aiming to bounce back from the tolouse performance.
We will need to let the games play out to see what's what but early warnings for me are there still appears no plan b at Wigan when play A is not working. I dont think a team should chuck their tactics out the window in the first half or just because they are behind but we were getting no joy with what we were doing in the first half and you'd think a change of tact in the 2nd half would of been in order.
Shorrocks at hooker really worried me - we are going further away from a natural 9 again, we need to see some variation in games especially when things arent working, if thats not a rotating 9 maybe its something we do on field - cust going to 9 or tommy and sam into the halves.
We were far too readable on our exit sets when you look at our back line its not the best reading, we only have 1 true winger and 0 true centres
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
The reallt worrying stat is that our main hooker only ran for 1 metre, how can our main ball controller only make 1 metre in a game and I assume that must have been from just stepping forward at the PTB

Honestly, I didn’t see it as being remotely as worrying as last year. Our props dented their line much more, and we have already seen plenty from KPP, Field and Cust in attack to feel confident this year will be far more entertaining (with French to come in soon). We can eliminate unforced errors, and daft penalties, and we will play in drier conditions.
Catalans are perfectly set up to play against a team gifting them field position in wet conditions. I think we will be a completely different proposition against Cas.
And therein lies the problem, Wigan are far too happy to compare ourselves to the bottom of the table sides, and make excuses when we are hammered by top of the table sides. We are mediocre at best, mediocre players, mediocre coach, and mediocre management of the club. We don't need a tweak here and there, we need a mammoth shakeup, or we will be in transition for years to come.

It's ok though, you do do know he is a nice bloke who trains well

Correct and it will continue to happen as long as Lenners and Rads are in charge, the jobs for the boys culture is still at the club, just look at the coaching staff, enough said
