Just rewatching the game.
Fiel try saving tackle in the 1st half a couple of metres from our line , then right at the start of the 2nd half under 2 mins, Wire have a scrum on our 10, Drinkwater breaks from the scrum, Harry over runs the line and he,s ina gap, Field covers coming from the base of the scrum. Perfect try saving tackle at a time where if they score they are right back init.

Re: Jai Field
I agree. I think back to the Penrith game and the amazing try saving and match winning tackle he made in that match. He may not have scored tries this season, but his displays at full back, under the high ball as well as his tackling have been peerless. He also made the move that set up Farrell's winning try.
The criticism of Field reminds me of the 92 final when Wigan played Castleford at Wembley.
Martin Offiah was named man of the match after scoring two tries and missing a hat trick by inches.
I was walking back to the tube station afterwards and I overheard two Cas fans. One was asking the other how Chariots could be named MotM when "all he'd done" was score twice and prevent another. How rubbish was that?
In another sport, I have heard similar about Erling Haaland being useless because "all he does is score".
Before this game people were bigging up Dufty as the best fb in super league. How bad was he yesterday? Field is the best in the business by a country mile.

Are you for real? I suggest you start watching another sport as you clearly know nothing about rugby! His defence was outstanding today and gave us the exactly the type of security and stability that Dufty can only dream about! Did you see his tackle on Curry to prevent a try for example or are you so desperate to "prove yourself right" that you just ignore everything good he does?Bob the Builder wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 9:40 pm Gonna watch again later. But not too sure exactly what he contributed today. Was looking forward to seeing his "explosive" pace on the Wembley turf. But I think I missed that moment. I find it hard critizing a player after such an excellent team performance and particularly after lifting a trophy, but what exactly did he do today? I'm sure I'll get slated on here, but I started this thread a few weeks ago following his less than inspiring performances and everybody on here assured me they were happy with his performance, and that he was nursing all kinds of injuries, but that he'd rip it up on the open space of Wembley when it mattered. Sorry but I think Imissed it
In attack, do you think Faz scores his match winning try without Field? Faz knows he doesn't which is why he makes a point of crediting him in his post match interview. If that was Welsby making that beautifully delayed soft pass, drawing in 2 Wire players to open the hole for Faz, the TV and press would be all over it!
Field is the best creative fullback we've had since Sam Tomkins!

They did mate. Superb team performance. As you point out, criticism of Field is just mind boggling! He was up there with the best in a match of outstanding performances.Firestarter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 12:09 pmDont get me wrong pal they all did their bitFlash wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 12:03 pmI think there were 17 men of the match yesterday mate, but your point is well madeFirestarter wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 11:59 am Ok so ive just watched the game back on tv and field was definately mom for me![]()

I think Marshy should be awarded that first try for his terrific work in bringing the ball out.
