Wigan Warriors duo banned for Challenge Cup Final after landing charges
Re: Wigan Warriors duo banned for Challenge Cup Final after landing charges
It's a shame the clubs can't put legal action against the panel. It's not just us the panel are not fit for purpose.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Paul Cullen head of the MRP!!

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

The problem is the interpretation of the head contact rules and no common sense being applied.
How can a player coming in for a tackle just dissapear, if something unexpected happens to the player he is attempting to tackle. "Expect the unexpected" which you can't do.
It seems that if the hit is deemed high and forceful, then no matter what the circumstances are, a ban will be imposed and will certainly be imposed for a Wigan player.
The consistency of the players brought up on charges is the main issue, as some seem to get away with similar offences.

I can't remember the words exactly, but the prayer goes something like this:
"Lord help me to change the things I can change, to accept the things I can't change, and give me the wisdom to know the difference."
We have a cup final on Saturday. Everyone from Danson, Rads and Peet and the players to the fans should be focused on Wembley and how to beat the Wire. The only relevant part played by analysing last week's performance is to make sure we don't fall foul of the ref again.
Many wise words from John Monie on this: control the things you can control etc.

The problem is, if we only start complaining about it when it affects a Wigan player...Ipinwigan wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 12:49 pmThe problem is the interpretation of the head contact rules and no common sense being applied.

Peet &Co. have made the correct decision, it is time to put these issues to bed and concentrate on the matter at hand, winning the Challenge Cup.

I have been complaining about it for the last two seasons and things are only getting worse, not sure how bad next season will be, common sense has gone.moto748 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 1:08 pmThe problem is, if we only start complaining about it when it affects a Wigan player...Ipinwigan wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 12:49 pmThe problem is the interpretation of the head contact rules and no common sense being applied.

That isn't true everyone from the start have been saying the panel is not fit for purpose. The problem is they're a law onto themselves with no policing or authority to justify or answer too on there decisions. Which is ludicrous when people's livelihood and health are at the whole base of the system in the first place.moto748 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 1:08 pmThe problem is, if we only start complaining about it when it affects a Wigan player...Ipinwigan wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 12:49 pmThe problem is the interpretation of the head contact rules and no common sense being applied.

Even if we'd appealed there is no way that either player would have been allowed to play on Saturday. Appealing and failing wouldn't help anybody. Agreed, any slight reduction on either ban would be useful over the next couple of weeks but I think the coaching staff are sending two messages by not appealing. Firstly they're showing wire that 'we can beat you without these two players' and secondly they're showing the replacement players that they have confidence in them. The whole situation makes me even more desperate to beat them and I really hope I get chance to 'have a polite word' with Powell after the game.

Honestly Josie ??. Keighran was nailed on for a ban, and to be fair, under current rules, was bang to rights.josie andrews wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:28 am Think it’s about time the club stood up to the RFL& the Disciplinary!
Why not stand up for these two players
Grow some fecking balls & stop rolling over every time we get a decision against us!
Pussies!
No my cats have more balls & they’ve all been neutered![]()
Dupree incident I didn’t spot at the game, but watching it back on TV it’s as plain as day that he deliberately tried to headbutt him. Yes Powell was all over him, and should have been penalised, but that doesn’t excuse a petulant reaction like that.
In my opinion, the club are right to not appeal, as I don’t honestly think they had a dogs chance in either case. Let’s just hope these two moments of stupidity don’t come back to haunt us. Especially Keighrans goalkicking.
