Many teams now do the same, Dire are prime targets to this.
We have the best chip and chase player in SL with Sam yet it is seldom seen.
That is because he is playing in the wrong position to do it very often. If he was at six he'd be doing it and on the evidence of the Hudds game that is where he needs to play.
One of the main reasons for that is to let TL play at hooker spelled with McIllorum without having to move Lockers to 6 when McIllorum goes off.
With hindsight the team selection is way off here. If the likes of Logan Tomkins are not ready to be playing 1st team then we can't have this merry go around of changing positions especially as Lockers never has been a stand off. He is a great loose forward and that is where we need him.

I cannot understand the recruitment policy for this season. We lost 1 prop Coley,i do not include O carroll as hes only played a handful of games in 3 seasons and sign 3 props. We lose 2 back row forwards in Hoffman and Joel and sign none.We have only 1 recognised centre in George who is susceptible to injuries and we sign Gelling who Wane says is unlikely to figure much this season as he is a work in progress, and we lose Deacon, dont replace him with another signing yet dont pick Mellor or Powell for the first game. How much input in recruitment has Wane had?Perhaps Lenaghan has stated who we can sign.We also need a hooker urgently or Tommy must move to 9,Mcilorum is tough and aggressive but will never run a game.It is too early to start blaming Wane,he must be given time even though he would never have been my choice for the job.

I think the reality is, Brough's kicking was so good, and our completion rate without dropped ball so low. To take advantage we would have to be chipping on the 2nd tackle deep in our own half.

the mosy concerning aspect of Sunday for me was the failure of the forwards to dominate an under strength opposition, we have a very much forward orientated head coach , and we failed miserably with the forwards on top we may well have seen a very different performance from the backs . Leeds will be a very different prospect and it is difficult to see us holding them up front which will allow their expansive game to come through

I think we are overplaying the 'understrength' of the Giants squad. They played very well. Lest we forget, Stains were 'understrength' all last season and they kicked our ass in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how Huddersfield perform in their next few games!

Maguire did his best to get the right culture at the club and it seems he got that but a very different one to what wane wants which will be a wiganer culture
I'll repeat my stance however, wane needs to stop the very public threats to players stating they will be dropped other wise you create the wrong type of pressure in the camp and IMO is also disrespectful to the players
Here may lie a problem as there are some heavy runours doing the rounds about this guy, lets say not being over complimentary about wane on a recent trip back to oz.
This has come from a person with good connections in Australia !
Team bonding ? Mutual respect ? Sounds non existent :eh:

Sorry TonyH, Just checked, my apologies, I was under the impression that Burrows had gone to Castleford, I'm sure I saw a television programme about it, anyway I'm confused myself now (nothing new there then)

Quite possible BR, it will be very very difficult to acheive the all UK based players in the squad unless you accept a drop in quality for a period of time, as to the mutual respect, well again its difficult to qualify the rumours but i do think there is no smoke without fire.
I do hope its not the start of the demise of the excellent work done previously by madge and i hope wane can address the issues in a calm and thoughtful manner and not throw the toys out of the cot !
I have from a very good source that the Noble era, although not as good as, is back at Wigan.

Now that, if true(and i have no reason to doubt you), is a big worry !
Yes it might only have been the first game of the season but under Madge we were blowing teams away at the start of the year, especially in 2010. Makes you wonder....

Don't think there's a lot wrong with him as coach but from now on in he's going to have to dig deep. Naming and shaming players doesn't help his cause but us not signing Ratchford, for the sake of £10k p.a. could come back to haunt us. Deacons tactical skill hasn't been replaced and although Tommy is a top class hooker he isn't a top class scrum half. Micky Mac needs spelling with someone like Tommy to produce what he is capable of.
I reckon we'll be ok eventually but it looks like it's going to be a roller coaster season.
Last years team got to the play offs and won the CC. Wane is responsible for the new signings so he is totally responsible for the quality of player available.
I agree that Deacs is a huge loss, his kicking game was very much missed on Sunday.
