Exactly KW, I cannot believe people still question IL, he has been just as magnificent for the club as MM was or SW currently is. When a door opens we seem to just have somebody else that is ready to walk through it, I have complete faith in IL and SW.Kittwazzer wrote:DaveO. Re: Brett Finch to Leave Wigan
There's truth in everything that's being said but ultimately, Brett was signed and is playing out his contract. Better that than him signing a further deal, working out that he wanted to be back in Oz and then losing interest and asking to go home early.
Let's be honest, he's not the first great player to leave the club I reckon he's weighed up his options and decided the way that he has. No issues, no confusion just a slight delay while he made up his mind. And as SW said on interview, "If he decides to go, we'll deal with it." and we will.
I reckon we could throw out a very competitive side next season with or without Matty Smith. We also went to Leeds with half our team missing and we all know what happened there.
We also have a bag full of cash to spend at the moment and we will do something with it. Exciting times really!!

Re: Brett Finch to Leave Wigan
ok lossing the main two half backs at the same time ain't great but if you look at like this:
Wigan keeped finch for one more season maybe two. Finch would have to create a partnership with a new half back (matty smith?) then next year finch may leave then smith would have to create a new partnership with a new half back. If we get two half backs in mid twenties on 3 year deals then next year may be a bit rough but the two years after will pay off long term. I agree with what people are say Powell and Mellor should be given a chance to stake their place at half back.
I am sad to see finch go but greatful to have seen a player of his class in a wigan shirt. Cheers finchy.....we want you to go home with two more medals though!

Re: Brett Finch to Leave Wigan
Finch tipped to leave on a high
SHAUN Wane reckons Brett Finch’s form will scale even greater heights in the crunch part of the season after confirming his intention to return to the NRL next year.
Wigan’s 12th straight victory last Saturday – a 36-14 win at Catalan – was overshadowed by confirmation that in-form Finch will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
His decision ends weeks of intense speculation over his future, and despite his good form, Wane reckons the uncertainty has weighed on the playmaker’s mind.
He said: “I’m glad it’s all sorted now, because I know from the conversations we’ve had, that it has been on Brett’s mind a lot.
“Now he’s made his decision, he can concentrate 100 per cent on his performances and I think we’ll see the difference. His form has been fantastic and I think it’ll get even better now.”
Attention will now turn to who may replace the in-form No.6. With Thomas Leuluai heading to New Zealand Warriors, Wigan will have a new halfback pairing in 2013. A deal to bring in Salford’s scrum-half Matty Smith is thought to have been done, leaving Wane scouring the NRL and Super League for a stand-off.
Michael Maguire’s Souths are believed to be leading the chase for Finch. Maguire – who brought the stand-off to Wigan at the start of last year – has already lured Jeff Lima back to the NRL for next season.
Wigan officials insist they did everything they could to keep hold of the former Melbourne, Canberra, Parramatta and Sydney Roosters ace.
But he is thought to be keen on starting a role in the media now before he hangs up the boots.
One of the real characters of the game, Finch was offered a spot on Matthew Johns’ TV show before moving to the Super League.
Rugby general manager Kris Radlinski said: “We offered Brett the contract that he wanted but in the end his desire to return home and plan for his life after the game were too strong.”
Finch said he wanted to make a decision on his career early to give the Warriors time to find a replacement.
“The Wigan club has been fantastic to me and I felt that it was important to sort out my future now so that everyone knew the situation and so that the club could start to make other plans,” he said.
“There are a number of options back home that I find attractive and my life after footy needs to be given consideration.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in England and to play for a club like Wigan has been a dream. The fans have treated me so well and I will be eternally grateful to them for making me feel so welcome.
“I want to finish this season strongly as I am part of a special team and feel that we have every chance of winning more trophies.”

When Noble was here and I was one of the first to point out he was basically rubbish I got the same sort of stupid posts as yours above. When Madge arrived and worked his magic you must have missed all the posititive comments I made about how much better the team was being run etc.Kittwazzer wrote:DaveO. Don't worry Mr Negative, I am sure you will eventually get you day in the sun when you can come on here and say “I TOLD YOU SO!”!
Suggesting the club screwed up by getting us into the position where both half backs are leaving at the same is a mistake is not being negative, it is common sense!

So Tommy has decided to try his hand back home and Brett has decided to go back to the NRL at the end of his contract. How is this the club's fault?DaveO wrote:When Noble was here and I was one of the first to point out he was basically rubbish I got the same sort of stupid posts as yours above. Matty Russell to play full back and Sam to play at stand off with Smith playing 7! Just an idea that i don't think anyone as mentioned. Powell and Mellor to cover if needed.Kittwazzer wrote:SW is reported to have said that Finch's replacement is already at the club!wiggydoran wrote: I agree with what people are say Powell and Mellor should be given a chance to stake their place at half back.

I asked him if he would like to mentor young players & he said he would love the chance to do it. A big loss IMO.TWO EYED WARRIOR wrote:The disappointing thing about losing finchy is i do think he would make a cracking addition to the coaching staff.
The lower grade players would learn a hell of a lot off this guy and just as importantly his attitude around the place as i believe he is a real character.
I dont doubt for one min that we will get decent replacements in for both tommy and finchy, but what i wouldnt like to see is a return to the "quiet" days we had a few years ago when the dressing room was like a morgue.
Good luck to Finchy quality player and will be sadly missed, but we have to move on and get on with it !

No, he just said he would like to do it when he finished. He has probably got better options back in Oz.TWO EYED WARRIOR wrote:Do you know if the club offered him a role along these lines Josie ?josie andrews wrote:I asked him if he would like to mentor young players & he said he would love the chance to do it. Maybe thats what clinched it for him to go home, seems to suggest if we offered him that role for the future he may have just stayed.
