In todays WEP,Shaun Wane has said "The scan has shown a crack on the bone as well as ligament damage.

Apparently Wane has said that the scans were nothing like as bad as first thought and it could be a return in 8 weeks.
Possibly the CC final if we get that far.

Tommy L's absence will give all concerned the opportunity to see what the most effective combinations we have from the existing squad.
I said in an earlier thread about handing the No 6 shirt to Lockers and putting Farrel at Loose Forward as well as trying some of the other up-and-coming lads.
I'm so so glad we have got a lot of the potentially 'hard' away matches out of the way and also the fact that we have a 3 point cushion at the top.
My wife has just had a similar accident - Mar 8 and not playing Rl! - and she was walking around after 6 weeks so maybe playing? after 8 weeks is possible given the very intensive re-hab and physio Tommy will have.
Here's hoping: would love to see Tommy going back with a handful of Winners Medals.

Sounds like what i did to my ankle a couple of years back, crack on the bone, i had a cast on for 8 weeks. Took me a good 6-8 weeks again to be able to have the confidence to play sports on it.

Having said that Tommy is;

a) a lot fitter than me
b) a lot harder than me
c) will have better treatment than me

so fingers crossed he can be back for the run in. The real problem is while you "off your feet" you can hardly do any exercise the difficulty here will not be getting him back, it will be getting him fit enough to play once he is back

Joe Mellor should get an extended run in Tommy's place, one injury doesn't necessitate making several positional changes. We will see if Joe is up to it or not, if not Powell needs to get a start (he will be playing again shortly following injury).

Come on guys, Tommy's injury could have happened at any time - playing for Wigan, in training etc. This is rugby league not tiddlywinks!

Don't get me wrong, I am not in favour of these meaningless games but I recognise that players, like Tommy, view it has an honour and priviledge to be selected. They are young men with a burning desire to play the game.

Tommy's bad luck will present opportunities for others and, given the timescale for recovery, will ensure that he is fresh and ready to go when we get to the business end of the season.

Yes they are and I would have thought they would have a crack at that (pardon the pun).

I wouldn't put Lockers to stand off. I would prefer giving one of the young lads a go.

Absolutely fuming. Another of Super League's many bad ideas. If Lancs v Tykes didn't capture the imagination enough to last more than a few seasons, why would this fixture?

Last season we played just two days later and dropped a point (though I think Wire dropped two) - maybe it's another attempt to close up the league table by increasing the workload of the top club or two.

I disagree with any player who says anything other than club comes first. We pay the wages and it's not like we can get new senior players in to replace them when things like this happen.

Glad he'll be back but we may still pay the price for this.

The fact remains that we have lost one of our top players because of a nothing match which is little more than a folly of the RFL's ego.

This could have a direct affect on our season and ultimately whether we win any of the three pieces of silverware that are available.

The RFL should pay Tommy whilst he is out injured and also discount them from our Salary cap for next year. They broke him, so they can pick up the bill!
